...well as far as I can remember the first supertest in 2002 has been done with a 250kmh el.limited car, back then there even haven´t been an option for a 300kmh limit – today one can order it for something around 2500€ I think…

so the kinda bad result had one major reason: the SL55 drove approx. ONE kilometer within the rev.limiter at 250kmh at the Döttinger Höhe…
another reason had been the annoying behaviour of the ABC suspension, even in sport mode…
and last but not least the well known AMG “problem” – the auto box – in combination with NO limited slip diff.
even with the manual program the SL55 upshifts at the rev limiter itself, a very bad behaviour when driving at the track, and the missing diff forces the auto box to upshift because when the inner wheel starts to spin the increased wheel speed of the spinning wheel results in a very annoying upshift – resulting in time loss…

well, don´t know exactly when but AMG soon acted when more and more ppl made complaints about traction problems and offered a 30% limited slip differential for their CLK55, E55 and SL55.

after that, SA again took the SL55 to the Nordschleife, this time with a 300kmh version and some other mods, I think the sport package or something like this - some mods to chassis/suspension I think - and I clocked a 8:06 then…

so NO, it´s been the same driver, ALL Supertests are done by chief editor Horst von Saurma (HvS)

but again, can´t wait for the CLK DTM

*fingers crossed that HvS will get one*

..will post the SL65 Supertest later...
