Default Mercedes SLK

This week, I got this baby for a drive.
I got it for 24 hours, so I (obviously) spent alot of time on the road.
About 400 km's to be exact.

So, the car only had a 2litre,163hp, the small engine, but it's still fun arround corners and if you turn the traction control system off, you're in for a treat.
If you don't do that, the car will eat away all the pace, you brought into a corner.

The car handles great and is very comfortable at the same time. MUUUUUCH better then the previous one. When I drove that one, it felt like I was driving a boat.

Anyway, I'm not gonna bore you with my impressions.

Oh, one more thing, the ladies ABSOLUTLEY DIG IT!!!!!!!

Oh, and here I'm giving you'all the finger

Lately I was with my dad in the car. We were stuck in traffic, but it was OK, coz we were standing behind an SLK for about 20 minutes. It still looks a bit girly but it's a huge improvement on it's predecessor. There are quite a few of these cars speeding through the streets of Warsaw. To be honest I've seen this one many more times then the generation before.

Fantastic photography !! THX

Nice so who owns it? How/why did you get to drive it for a day? Is it like a 24 hour test drive like they have here in the states with the GM vechiles.

Despite the fact I hate mercs (because they all look the same and wayy overpriced for what they are) I like this car. You are a lucky person!

I love the interior and the optional illuminated door sills. If you havent, everyone should defenitelly go to their web and built it... soo many additional options. Just incredible!

Definitely a cool car and cool pics as always! Don't you feel bad in taking such long testdrives even if you know for sure (I think) you don't even consider buying the car? Not for the moment maybe I mean, if you were in the market for a new car you would have told us

Thanks....nice pics as usual mate. The Slovenian dealers must be alot more trusting then here, it would be nearly impossible for me to get a Merc for 24hrs with no supervision. Whats the deal?

Yeah, sometimes I feel bad. I always try to take as little of the sallesman's time as possible. 10-15 minutes.

But if you look at it from another standpoint.....When I had the civic type r for a testdrive about two years ago, my friend was so excited about the car, that he bought it 6 months later. So I basicly sold the car

And, this sounds unbelivable, but.....(this happened about 6 months ago)My boss asked me what car should he get. His current car is the alfa GTV.
I said, that mercedes just came out with the new and much improoved SLK.
We talked a bit about the choices....I mentioned the 350z, rx8, stuff like that.... but he got excited about the SLK. I got him a few brochures and stuff....and guess what.

I took him for a drive two days ago and he also asked for a testdrive.
And he's driving the car as we speak.
We were on the phone about 2 hours ago. He called me, that he's got the keys in his hand and that he's walking towards the slk.

He closed a deal two weeks ago, and said he'll buy himself a new car...

Anyway, he'll probaby buy the new SLK. And I was the guy who recomended it to him. So, I guess I did Mercedes a favour.

About getting the car. No big deal. The salesman doesn't know how much money you have. If you have the gift of speech, you can do everything.

You have to be selfconfident or you loose. I never go up to a salesman saying I'll buy that car, give it to me for a testdrive.
I say I'm in the market and sooner or later they offer the testdrive.
I sometimes say, I'd like to take my friend or my mom out to lunch, and ofcourse the salesman won't go with you....

You ussualy have to show somekind of ID or a drivers liscence.
Ussualy. I got the new audi A8 twice. Twice for 24 hours. And all I did was sign my name and my phonenumber.

I treat the cars nice. I take photos, make videos....
I don't go out and abuse cars. I just want to drive them a little.

I actualy got the idea from the german version of "auto motor und sport". The tv show. They said( 2years ago) that anybody could drive a porsche if only the wanted to. They showed a guy going into the dealership saying he's in the market for a boxter and he got it.

I did the same thing the very next day and three days later I was sitting behind a whell of the civic type r. That's how the wholw thing started...

I sometimes get to drive a car with the salesman besides me, but still...

You got some good points, no doubt For sure things here are different.. to get a 24h test drive with no salesman around you need to be a customer already or in good relationships with the salesma/owner... and not only for nice cars like yours, but even for a Peugeot 106. The only testdrive you can get as a stranger is one with the salesman beside you, and not that long. Just different mentality I guess
