Those job losses at lotus are surprising, especially since they released all those elise variants recently.
I cant say I really understand the complicated world of car politics, it seems like everybody owns everybody else, and all the manufacturers want a piece of every pie

The lotus job losses are in their consulting division (ie that does work for other manufacturers). Nothing related to car production (elise, exige) or new car development (gt and esprit) are affected - apparently.

I really hope it is NOT a precursor to a vw buyout of lotus.

I don't want a four wheel drive esprit with traction control and numb steering and overservo'd brakes.

I want TWO, REAR wheels to be driven. Traction should be controlled by my right foot on the pedal, not by some nannying electronics

Ok so quality may improve but if thats at the expense of the driver experience, then that will be a very bad thing...

All IMHO of course.

That toyota super car picture is really really old. They have gone through at least one, I think maybe two new redesigns sence then. That version was called the Volta, but the new one I believe is called the XTB prototype. There was a post with some info about it on this site earlier...
