Well, keeping it under 2.0 is to undercut certain taxing brackets in Japan. But I believe they are now aiming at the under 2.4L displacement bracket.

Afterall, 2.3 280hp should be better than 2.0 280hp rite? To me, the more low-end grunt the better.

I doubt Ford would go for that idea.

You have to realize that they have Mazda 6's with engines over 2.0L

They have the 2.3 and 3.0 engines, 170hp in the 2.3 and 220 in the 3.0

Japan puts out cars over that hp limit all the time they just don't sell them in Japan they sell them in Europe and North/South America

Just so you know, the 2.3 is actually an inline 4 with a balancer shaft or two (can't remember how many hehe). Despite that, in stock trim it makes 160bhp, so getting 276bhp from it shouldn't be that hard...certainly ought to be upgradeable to something significantly higher.

well considering you can make 100+ hp with a turbo/intercooler kit for the Focus 2.3 (same engine) It's very reasonable, just add the Turbo change the cams, timing, fuel map, exhaust, compression, etc... I can see this HP rating insight.

Exactly, it shouldn't be difficult at all.
