i enjoy watching them, i just wait for crash's and overtaking.

too realy enjoy the V8s its a good idea to be a massivly one sided supporter of Holden or Ford, which is the reason the category is so popular in aus were holden and ford are iconic for buiding aussie cars (fom overseas parts) for aussie terain, me im holden through an through go HRT!!!! 0X

Nope,I used to watch Super Touring car as well,.Volvos kicked arse, but thats not the point.

Really,Before V8 supercars,it used to be about cars on the showroom floor or seen in the car park racing around Australian race tracks. Now you only see Commodore Or Falcon body without its original Componets..Least in group A they had their orginal engines. But now its Commodore with Chevy motor with Ford 9 inch diff with a custom made gearbox.Where is holden in that?..Possesed beaver you once said you didn't like V8s,now you do?
Now I only Watch Nations Cup and GT Production.Don't get me wrong I'm Holden Fan,but I like Seeing stocko HSV GTS go after Evos and STis then a sports sedan holden racing against sports sedan falcon.

Kangaroo Boy has it right on this one. Last V8 super car event I went to (Sandown - 2002)was dead boring. The support races were more interesting.
A lot of people don't seem to realise that the only thing Commodore and Falcon V8 super cars have in common with the showroom models is the shape.

Post Godzilla is not as cool as pre G. Dick Johnstons Sierra was unbeleivably quick, and the odd M3 which made the races was good too.
The saving grace of ATCC is Bathurst and the drivers seem like good guys. In fact, all of the tracks are circuits, not ovals which are deadly dull.
Aside from that, V8 still have a great popularity in Aus for road cars still.
I agree that the cars are not too varied, and 9inch diffs are the only option-Holden or Ford, but a few mates are fortunate enough to have ex racing V8's in their road cars, so you could almost say they have an influence on road cars.

As Carol Shelby said "You can't make a silk purse from a sows ear, but you can make a sows ear go fast"

Oh, mhn3773, you can eat SH?T!, and vault has a U, as in U idiot!

I really thought Aussie Super Car was quite close to stock - pity they left that behind really...

The exact same fate NASCAR suffered - I think the early 80's was the last time the cars actually resembled the stock counterparts - and now are silhouettes of FWD V6 4 door sedans - that are actually tube-chassis RWD V8s ...

And it is just a high speed circular parade - at least Aussie V8s turn left AND right...
