It's for airflow under the car...having the "scoop" there routes some of the air going under the car out the back and up, creating some more downforce on the back.

BEAUTIFUL car!! I love the way the thing looks...just can't wait to see some comparos and vids of it.

Damn that car looks good. The best bit is that as well has having the power of the e55, this thing will have the handling as well! Can't wait to see this on the Top Gear track/ having Tiff let loose...
