And about being a "professional photographer" at the Ferrari stand... thanks for the advise, now I know what to do at the Geneva show next month: I need a pro camera and a tripod and stare in front of the Ferrari stand until someone there let me enter!

dude, just walk in with the confidence of Jay-Z and when they say: "sir, excuse me, who are you, and what are you doing here"(and they will), make the stupidest face in the world and say: pardon me, do you know who I am?
Say you're from car mag or somethng and that you're really sorry that you forgot your press indentification in the hotel room and that you know better than that. Say that you tought that they were notified that you are comming......
This way, you'll be faster than them in mentioning the press identification, wich will throw their doubts out of the window. say you're kindove in a hurry because you have to get to the lambo stands and then you have a meeting in the town centre.... and it would really be in your way to go all the way back to the hotel.....but if they want , they can call the the people who run the motor show, who have the list of journalists visiting....and they won't want to go to all that trouble because of one guy.....then just say, you'll be quick, that you just have to take some outside and inside shots. When you say inside shots be as calm and confident as possible, that's your way inside....trust me...............if your bluff will be convincing you'll get interior shots of some of the main stars....
trust me, this is expirience talking.
Good luck, and don't forget the tripod. And one more thing. Try to bring one to many bags. The ones that you store you equiptment in. You'll be more convincing......

They didn't. The lighting was a pain in the ass actually, with all those overhead lights making weird reflections. I just used long exposures.
