Idd, VW did the same thing with the Passat prototype (Mercedes camouflage), if my memory serves me right.

Idd it's a common trick car manufactures do. They want to draw as less as intention possible to their prototypes, so that's why they want to deceive possible viewers with camouflage so it will look like another brand, or by using a mule.


Another example of such a camouflage: the new Focus sedan, Ford uses specific stickers so it would look like the rear of a BMW 3 series.
