Torque or Horsepower
If you had to choose between two cars (irregardless of brand or make) what would you get? One with more torque or horsepower? Why?
|
As much as we want both... you have to pick only one. ;)
|
HP. If I would like torque, I'd buy a diesel.

Why choose, when you can have both in abundance. |
i prefer torque....no point having such a high powered car but with no torque (like those rotaries)

Although I do agree with you. Have both. Buy BMW. ;) |
Both !! That's what engeneers are fighting for. But I voted for Torque.
Like dani_d_mas said, the perfect thing would be a nice Diesel ( like the 330cd for me  ) for the week and an M3 or even a M3 CSL for the track on the weekend. Someday I will have both  |
it would depend on the tradeoff. if i was choosing between a car that had 430whp and 350 wtq at higher rpm or a car with 390whp and 400wthq at lower rpm i would take the car with more torque. mainly because it would be more fun of a car to drive along the streets. i wouldnt plan on taking a car of mine to the track. for track use though higher hp will always have the advantage.

Well if you buy BMW, you'll buy hp, but little torque  As for the Merc, just put some spaceshutlle wheels and you're off. |

I voted HP |
Well you cant have power without torque and you can't create torque without creating power.... so as coombsie says, a lil silly....
Having said that though, i prefer high revving, high power engines than low revving torquey engines |
