AVERAGE SPEED WHEN U DRIVE
When i am going alone in my moms car i usually drive at 80-100-120 KM/H, every time i drive alone i start like racing a lil bit, every time i am doing it feels so great, but when i come down the car...i feel pretty stupid...so i wanted to know you average speeds when u drive, thanxs for the opinions !
|
erm....i was like that too when i was 16........then all your friends get in accidents, and perhaps yourself (hopefully not). you'll learn fast that its just not worth it. TRUST ME. just not worth it. if u wanna go racing take it to the track.
i drive on avg 60 kph on normal streets an 90-100 on the highway. i'm not goona say what i used to do  |
don't feel that way, you drive slow compared when i had your age when my average speed was 120km/hr, and of course i had some car accidents (but not by going fast, only by talking and grabbin a girls leg)
now i drive the same speeds you do now, and it really feels great when u race a car, but lets not forget we drive normal cars, no stripped down w/a roll cage take care |
Depends on the speed limit. But I generally go only about 5mph over the posted limit. A cop won't bother with you if your going just 5 mph over. The ticket would not cost enough and he would just waste his time. In a school zone I will drive like a 80 year old man with a hat. My friend got a ticket going 8mph over in a school zone and it cost him 500 bucks.

It really depends on where I'm driving and why I'm driving. If i'm just driving to get somewhere, I tend to stick around the speed limit, maybe 10-20 over. If I'm out to drive for fun, I do the same until I get to the road I'm going to and then haul ass. There are a couple of straights where the Integra hits 120 mph.
Zr2man99: I fucking hate Georgia traffic cops. They're a bunch of uneducated, worthless pieces of human filth with nothing better to do than harass motorists. None of them (or their families, for that matter) deserves to live. I was talking to a friend of mine who is a cop, and he said that it takes a special kind of asshole to be a traffic cop. The rest of the police force (the ones who do something useful, like catch criminals) hates them. :x |
I've got a nice info center in my CheeseWedge and it has an average speed display option. The figure as shown is always somewhere around the 50 km/h figure :fadein:
|
60 km/h for my dad.

Here in Mexico the top speed limit is 110 km/h (about 70 mph) in most Federal Highways, in some Highways located north of the country (maxipistas) is up tp 130 km/h (about 80 mph).
Having said that, I usually drive a lot faster if I'm alone and the conditions of the road and weather allow me to do so (I normally do around 15 minutes between toll booths in the Mexico-Puebla Highway -that's 53 kms of an ample 4 lane road with some 18 kms of long, open curves- and I've been also known to drive a friend's Corvette a little bit over 250 km/h). Unfortunatedly, and even though I drive way too fast for mexican standards, it's good to have in mind that even if you have a wonderful car and have skills worth of a F1 pilot, most of the drivers out there on the road ARE NOT professional pilots and and they surely DON'T have neither the skills or the awareness on how to properly control a vehicle at high speeds... SO, no matter where you are or how you drive, ALWAYS BE EXTRA CAREFUL!, as you cannot control all the things that may cause an accident, specially other drivers. :? P.s. Wish we had some autobanhen or some kind of highways like those! |
Here in South Dakota, you're pretty okay with cops as long as you're within 5 MPH of the speed limit.
The speed limits in the city vary from 30-40mph depending on the street, so put my speed at around 33-45. On the interstate the speed limit is 65MPH when you're around the major cities/towns (major meaning 140,000 people for SD's largest, Sioux Falls, where I'm from), but most of the way across the state it's 75MPH, so I'm usually at around 79 when i'm coming to and from college. |
i have no idea rely, hopefully im not doing 2 fast to lose my licance,
i drive at a speed that i think is safe, and will get me to wherever as quick as possible, i just hope the police see eye to eye with my methords, haha |
35-40 km/h for school zone (30 km/h speed limit, of course have to look out for police cars)
60 km/h for city (50km/h speed limit) 100-110 km/h for highway (speed limit at 90km/h) |
Average, I go about 70mph on the highway.
|
Shouldn't this be in Car Chat or something?
Anyway, I usually obey the speed limits. I've never had a ticket and I never want one. |
I usually respect speed limits. I think that having a slow car helps, you listen well when you make speed
I don't support people who drive downtown quickly. |

i usually just drive what i think is safe for the road so if theres alot of traffic i do one speed if theres none ill go faster
on the way to my house its down 2 lane roads so 100mph isnt unheard of |
well, i just hope that one day this "tick" of mine goes away, i go out and say: don't do anything stupid, and ...bang... when i look at the gauges..120km/h, on city, its something really stupid, i mean i have been driving like 1.5 years ago, so is not that much, and a friend of mine already got a car accident, i haven't yet...(thanx god), and i hope that never happen to me...
|
Unfortunately, Speed Limits mean nothing to me. I always drive as fast as I can. A lot of time the fastest that I can drive is only 50-60 kph and thats ok. If I am in traffic or if there are others in the car, naturally I can't go fast because of all of our safety. But when they are gone and there is no traffic just watch me fly.
PS. My last ticket for being stupid was 41 mph over the limit in my bosses car. |
with all the illegal aliens, senior citizens, and soccer mom SUVs in los angeles, I would be lucky if my average is 20 mph.
|
I follow the speed limits, for few reasons. If I drive it's never my car.
Back home in Ukraine the highway speed limit is 120km, but there are speed limit free stretches of long long straight stretches of road, and there my dad used to do in the 140-160 range. |
I drive 10 KM/H - 15KM/H over on city roads which is around what most people will drive, so this really causes no problems because cops can't pull everyone over.
On the highway everyone will drive around 120 in the fast lane so cops generally leave you alone in your doing 115 or less.( speed limit 100 KM/H) It really depends on the highway though - highways that travel to downtown Toronto tend to be busier and people get used to driving slower even when the road is clear. However, if your heading away from the city ( doing the 1-2 hours commute that some people do everyday) the speed that people drive is alot faster because everyone is in a hurry to get home. On these highways I tend to drive 120 to 125, but even at that speed someone will fly up your ass at 145 and start flashing their highbeams at you. |
in the highway i drive around 80... dont have to look for cops either :) just find a car, and stay on his ass and keep following him untill he slows down, i slow down
|
i ussually go 10-20mph over the posted speed limit... i have a radar detecter so i dont ussually worry to much about cop trouble :D :)
|
5 miles above speed limit on city streets on highway depends if CHP is around, cuz ill go 80 if i have to pass some one but then ill slow back down to 67-72 mph.
|
my average speed (according to the onboard computer)
= 37 mph (56 Km/h) |
it all depends,if im stickin around my town its average of about 30mph,no straights really in my town, nice bends in some places.
but if goin out to othe rplaces, there are longer roads, and i really only go above 60 when on the national speed limit roads as thats were they are usual open and better to do a bit more speed. |
dipend that conditions ,avarage is 80/100 km/h
|
Well, I just got a fast car. And I am too young, and I'm an asshole. I really hope I can stop being an asshole. Cause my average speed going on a car trip today was 80 or 85. But in stretches it was around 90 or 100. And for a few brief stretches, 130+ (mph, not k/m and hour... to clarify).
|
130 mph = 209 kmh
That's serious speed on public roads. |
When I was going to High School I would hit 95 on an average day
|
With that collection of cars i guess so!
|
I only took the Thunderbird to school except for special occasions than it was a tough choice. I didn't want to flaunt my families money even though my school was all rich kids (being a private catholic school), the only kids who really knew were my friends. also alot of those kids were pretty shitty drivers and that sort of influenced my choice of school cars
|
Shitty drivers eh - Ya i know the feeling - I park 60 meters away from my schools back door( at least 20 meters from the closest car) Just to be safe!
|
I drive whatever speed traffic is going, or a little faster if there's enough space to do so without threading through lanes like a dick.
When there's no traffic around, I drive as fast as I think I can get away with safely. On a nice day, that usually means matching my speedometer with the speed limit signs exactly ... although my car was made before Canada went metric, so you do the math. My fastest was on Ontario's toll highway, the 407, where traffic is very thin and very fast on weekends. I used to go 180-200km/h on there regularily when I had a turbo, and I got it up to 230 once to pass, with the left blinker on Autobahn style. I don't do that anymore though -- the car I drive now couldn't go that fast without a booster rocket. |
Lets's see:
60 km/h (35 mph) in city - limit is 50 (30 mph) 100 - 140 km/h (60 - 85 mph) outside city (limit is 100/60) usually 170 kmh (105 mph) on highway (if there's place, and the car's good, then more) - limit is 130/80 I get 1 ticket every 2 years or so ... |

yeah my friends Escalade got keyed down the whole length of the truck it sucked soo bad
|
All depends on the road, weather conditions, traffic, police presence!!!! and if im in a convoy wiv me mate or not!!
Managed to latch onto the back of a aston martin db7 and bmw x5 4.4 on the m40 the other nite, wiv me mate in his saxo vtr (took a while to catch them but they were gettin slowed up by other cars pulling out infront. I'd say an average speed of 110 mph that nite, 120 peak. Ive pulled 137 but that was very early morning on deserted motorway. Usually i stick to 10% over the speed limit in towns, unless i know the stretch particularly well, but wiv the cops around here now its bloody dodgey!!! |
60-70 kmph in the city (limit is 50)
120-130 kmph outside the cities (limit 90) ~180 kmph in the highways, at night ~220, at race 245.. :) (limit 130) |
In South AFrica the speedin traps are increasin by the day.. with laser cameras and the similar traps.. I however average 90-100 mph on the open highway, conditions and traffic permitting of course
