Mercedes W211 E63 AMG!

Zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds with a 378 kW/514 hp eight-cylinder engine!!!
This facelifted E63 AMG is looking great and with that awesome engine, the new 7 speed sport transmission, upgrated supsension, brakes and aerodynamics and weight saving from the new lighter engine will give the new BMW E60 M5 one or two things to think about.

Hmmm...monstrous power put onto a good chassis, but wearing a pretty boring suit by now. The face lift hasn't given it anything, the rear lights look like they came off the european Toyota Corolla :(

ferrarif1fan89 04-14-2006 11:14 AM

meh, does not excite me at all. the fact that it is auto-only is a major turnoff, especially when bmw is making its cars with manuals still (and if you say the m5 and m6 are SMG-only, they're developing manual versions)

martin100 04-14-2006 03:25 PM

Hmmm nice, the first pics i see about this monster  The facelift really makes it look much better IMO, though the old one didnīt look bad. Thanks for these many pics philios55

Just beautiful, I love the E-Class! Thank goodness for a M5 competitor, I was never a big fan of it.

bmwdakias 04-15-2006 06:37 AM

A few exterior changes make it look a bit better but it doesn't excite me at all.Imo a sports saloon should have a manual or a sequential gearbox which i even prefer from a manual, although its rarely appreciated by the press. Easily accessible monstrous power provided by the MB by just pressing the acceleration pedal is probably preferred by a big share of the intended customers and a softer ride is easier to live with on an everyday basis. It is nice that alternatives exist for different tastes but the M5 is the only truly exciting four door saloon in accordance with my tastes.

Looks great and the 514 hp engine. sounds like they have mad a great car. But still i would take the new M5 over this merc anyday.

We will see how it will handle in corners, the merc wera almost always fat straight line rockets.
:)

514hp..... hmm, now let Kleemann or so put a kompressor on that!

Most powerful E-Class of all time
This is obviously a nice car.
But people that can afford these cars
and actually buy are lucky :D

kksh 04-19-2006 06:12 PM

I guess in a way the M5 and the E63 are aimed at different clientels. An M5 driver wouldn't buy an E class and vice versa. To a certain degree anyway. An M5 would be an alternate to a Porsche with more practicality whereas the E63 would be grand tourer with more space and stealth looks.

Nevertheless, it's still amazing see this horsepower race. I'd be happy to have any one of them.

crazidude 04-20-2006 03:12 AM

Looks pretty much the same, but the rims seem a little small for the body.

They also finally put a 7-speed in one of their higher performance cars. I was wondering when that was going to happen.

Bernardo 04-21-2006 09:25 AM

I like It very much, but I would take the M5 instead any time.

Beast, first pic looks fabulous 8)

yeckmohr 05-04-2006 04:30 PM

Nice black AMG Pics - not the normal "silver".
Thanks

vakpemil 05-04-2006 08:07 PM

Looks! Awesome! Better then the E55 AMG! Hopefully this car has a better handling then the old E55 AMG :D

Just drove it today (and CLS 63 AMG, E 420 CDI with 730 Nm torque).
Nice sound, much better steering than before, more predictable ... Nice car to slide around and very very fast. Hits 250 kph limiter so hard that jour head jerks forward. Im 110% sure that it would go 320 or more without limiter.
Unofrtunaletly road was a bit wet (dam weather) so it was kind of spinning wheels in 3rd gear without ESP, so hard launches were not an option ... Did a nice burnout, though. I think there's a willage in germany that is stil enveloped in smoke

Sound like an interesting day. Nice to hear about the improvements on the E63. What was the E420 CDI like? Must be monstrous with those 730 Nm:s of torque. Does it still use the old 5 speed auto?

jakaracman 05-17-2006 04:36 AM

Ghostbat: 420 CDI is great for a diesel, now has 7G-Tronic. Unfortunately there is no model T (wagon) or 4-Matic (as 4-Matic seems not being able to handle 730 Nm of torque).
The car is fast, but not as fast as 500, which costs the same! Especially over 180 kph 500 is better, sound is better, everything is better. Even in comsumption there0's only 2-3 litres differecce (which is unimportant if ypou have money toi buy and run 70k€ car) ...
