Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione to enter production?!?!?!??!

Quote:

New Models: Alfa 8C Competizione will be built

Remember the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione concept car? The V8-powered, carbonfibre-bodied, front-engined supercar everyone said Alfa should build? Now, over two years since the concept was revealed at the 2003 Frankfurt show, it really could happen writes John Simister.

'It is my dream to do it,' said Alfa's recently-arrived CEO, Antonio Baravalle. 'We have cut the budget for our advertising campaign and will do the 8C instead, because it is a perfect way to promote the Alfa brand. Sergio Marchionne [president of Fiat Auto] says if the figures add up, do it.'

The plan is to have a production-standard 8C ready for the Paris show at the end of September, and to take orders for a 500-car production run then. It will be a coupé, like the concept car, but another of Baravalle's 'dreams' is to make a Spider version later.

Man, It'd be great if they make it, just in time for the US return!

Good news!!!

This car is just stunning!!! Even if it won't be a sports car as good as other ones, it will be an excellent way to promote Alfa Romeo 8)

I hope the production model won't be much different from this concept!!

Can't wait!!

Everlasting 03-05-2006 07:45 PM

i'll have my fingers crossed

yg60m 03-06-2006 01:26 AM

That would be fantastic and indeed a nice way to promote the brand, much better than ad IMO ... :D

noliebro 03-06-2006 02:05 AM

amazing, can't wait for this car, oh wait, I live in America  . I hope they come over here soon and bring this beauty with them

RAMMIUS 03-06-2006 03:40 AM

If ALFA Romeo plans a strong return to the States , I`am sure that the 8c will be a very powerfull tool to promote the brand  :P

redbaron 03-06-2006 11:58 AM

This car is a promontion where other brands dream of!!!

i hope they finally build the 8C this time

stradale 03-06-2006 02:57 PM

I was really excited when I read this today. It would be amazing if they'd build it! I already loved the car when I first saw it in pictures, but when I saw it in real life I couldn't believe just how perfect it is....

GO BUILD IT, ALFA!

taygunho 03-06-2006 04:44 PM

Wow great news. 8C is the best alfa concept ever and it will be good to see it is becoming real.

McLaren4eVa 03-07-2006 02:43 PM

That thing is pure pornography bloody hell and i thought the Brera was beautiful oh my alfa's designers have really hit their stride in the past couple of years, they look better than the new ferraris and carbon fibre body this thing should be light, competition for the 911 or v8 vantage even.

bmagni 03-07-2006 02:53 PM

oh yeah, I've long awaited this... hope its real. a beauty like the 8C must be built no matter what...

Chaos in 1983! 03-08-2006 10:34 AM

PUUUUURE SEX...man Alfa would make a HUGE mistake if they decide not to produce it...

martin100 03-08-2006 03:31 PM

Auto Bild has written a while back that the car is not gonna be build... There news are known to be correct most of the time... I would really appreciate though if they really build this dream

Mr.Vercetti 03-19-2006 05:45 AM

It looks... not very fancy... like in the 430 for example... :|

Tommaso 03-19-2006 10:23 AM

I agree with you, but I think this is not the final configuration, this is a testing car, so the look is not ok

Mr.Vercetti 03-21-2006 06:16 PM

These are old rumours Dani... Its now official(as ypu can see in the first post) that the 8C Comp. WILL be produced.

Mr.Vercetti 03-23-2006 02:37 PM

As I figured it.. the thing that Dani posted was a reuse of some old info... The project goes as planned kids!!

Tommaso 03-28-2006 12:35 PM

Autoblog.it is not a reliable source

The 8C comp. is not a GT like the Maser, it's more hard-drive oriented, so there isn't a conflict with the Mase;
I don't know if it will be sold by dealers, but if Alfa men will produce a limited number of cars, they can sell it directly :)

Tommaso 03-28-2006 12:57 PM

There is the green light for the production, from the Fiat Group Ceo to the Alfa Romeo boss ...........

RAMMIUS 04-12-2006 11:55 AM

The beauty meets the production line  :P

bmagni 04-12-2006 04:20 PM

oh yeah... i wonder what price will it have

RF1 04-12-2006 04:27 PM

Ferrari rival?

HeilSvenska 04-12-2006 04:45 PM

That video is like porn.

Iwan 04-12-2006 04:57 PM

production will be about 500 units whereas roughly 250 units will go to 'close' Alfa Romeo members/family in Italy. In Switzerland we will get 5 - 10 cars and it
looks like they all go to 'healthy' collectors with connections.

Even my Dealer (where I bought several Alfas and 2 Maserati's) will not get a single 8C.

cheers
iwan

Tommaso 04-13-2006 11:29 AM

I think they will be 500/year :)

If you don't want wait.....
