Bugatti Veyron....

Just picked up the most reascent Motor trend. Looks like the Veyron will be on the released later this year! :D I know there has been a lot of speculation about the performance but the numbers Bugatti is quoting are astonishing. I'm sure everyone has heard 0-60 in under 3 seconds. The ones that really impress me are 0-124mph in 6.0 seconds and 0-186 mph in 14. I'm sure it won't handle as well as an Enzo or a CGT, and will probably be hard pressed to beat them around a track but my god thats fast! Anyone else have any info?

HeilSvenska 04-28-2005 10:20 PM

According to the CAR, it will have more than 1001bhp to compensate for weight. I'll more likely to have 1100bhp or sorts.

RC45 04-28-2005 11:07 PM

So it will be just a little slower than the hundreds of Twin Turbo Vipers and Z06's running around our roads here.. :P hehe

ZfrkS62 04-28-2005 11:17 PM

Frankly i think the Veyron is going to be a useless car. Ungodly price tag for unusable power. I even take issue with the SL55 and 600 power levels :?

It seems that 0-186 will be in more than 17s now  ( I think I read it in CAR or Car And Driver) but anyway, very impressive numbers as they target 0-60 mph in 2.8 s ...
I remember 6 month ago, a lot of people said that it wouldn't happen :P Now I think everybody is convinced it will arrive 8)

sads 04-29-2005 01:02 AM

Its got tonnes of power tonnes of weight and it will cary around people with tonnes of cash who will realise they should have bought a CGT

The epitomy of what a supercar should be  . This car is where all the other supercars should be if they kept upping the horsepower over the years. I realize horsepower isn't everything but you know VW put it's millions into this car to give it the ability to out turn any other production car on the road as well as out accelerate it. The price tag brings Buggatti exclusivity as well as VW/Audi top of the line engineering and know how. This car will be the best of the best.

P.S. - Someone had to say it since Everso is gone!

I like the Idea of making something as crazy as the Bugatti Veyron, just for the hell of it, cuz they will not make money of it probably but it will be a awsome sight to see one going full throttle...... :D

I totally second that  And I can't wait to see if it really out-accelerate all the existing supercars :P I am sure Bugatti will want to prove its claims and will enable some magazine to verify its accelerations ...

Well I lean on 5th gear and Plato when I say this Plato couldnt find one good thing to say about the srt10 and it beat the vette on a 3 lap race.......

So 5th Gear has tested many Twin Turbo Vipers and Twin Turbo Z06's then?

Neema702 04-29-2005 08:58 PM

i agree with others, i love the fact that it has so much power and such a high price tag... thats what i want a "supercar" to be. i want to be able to see it a few times and go crazy each time, not think to myself: "Oh, there goes another one."

In other words, just a status symbol - a sort of automotive penis extension ....

ZfrkS62 04-29-2005 09:22 PM

i see what you guys are saying about supercars and extreme power..but 1000+?

The Ferrari's, Lambos are killer and all but their power levels don't raise reliability concerns. Of course, these cars will probably be garaged and never driven so it doesnt' really matter.

I dunno, maybe there is another reason i'm not a fan of it, but there's just something about it that doesn't sit right with me :?

zondaland 04-30-2005 12:09 AM

I think because of the continual delays that it is starting to become unbelievable, even now that it seems to be in the final stages before production. It seems that for as long as I have known about cars the Veyron has been hovering on the horizon. I just hope that if it does launch then it will do so with a bang and not a whimper. How about an official press launch at which it not only breaks the record acceleration times but also the smashes the top speed record??? It would put them on just about every news broadcast around the globe :)

mrzonda 04-30-2005 01:21 AM

I think everyone agrees that it's going to be very very very very fast in a straightline, but a lot of people aren't convinced that it'll handle. I'm still undecided. But let's not forget that Loris Bicocchi, the guy who tuned the handling for the Zondas, and Koenigseggs (and possiblty the Bugatti EB110, I'm not sure), is also responsible for the handling of the Veyron.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

You should know. You drive a Corvette, don't you?

The Veyron is outrageous in every way. It's a Bugatti and that's what it's supposed to be. :P

twboy1999 04-30-2005 10:12 AM

is just me
or i think konisegg ccr is faster then Veyron when the car is finally released.. i am not talking about top speed. i am talking about acceration..

stand still.. obivously buggati is faster due to all wheel drive

but on highway.. i dun think buggati is any faster.. maybe even slower

buggati 1000 hp.. 1900kg+
CCR 800+hp 1200kg

that is like 700kg difference

dingo 04-30-2005 10:13 AM

I don't give a shit about the Veyron - at least until it goes into production and some real world tests are done with it :)

I think you mean the SL65 AMG which has a twin-turbo 6.0L V12 with over 600hp.....the SL55 only has about 500hp

Well about the standstill part...in TG lambo vs Zonda, Jeremy Clarkson said the Zonda was faster off the line cos the all wheel drive system of the lambo causes the revs to drop much if u just floor it, so u gotta get the revs come up sort of gently to be fast...i dunno if this goes for all allwheeldrive cars, or if JC is just talkin bs, or whatever...

one other thing, the point where the Bugatti is gonna get hurt by its weight the most is acceleration (and corners maybe but im not talkin bout that here :P ). Once all that weight is on the move, i think it'll just go on blasting away...

but no matter which one is faster, i'd take the Koenigsegg any day

Hey Bad, didn't you have a buggati four turbo engine in your sig way back in the racingflix days?

I remember fighting with you about the buggati, but don't remember what it was..... that was waaay back in 2003

So you mean it won;t have any steering feel?

DeMoN 04-30-2005 12:17 PM

Its going to be as good as the SLR... weighing a LOT and performing less than expected.

At least the SLR looks good, this Butatti looks like a turtle inside its shell with only the head out.

:D :D LOL...ur right tho :| which isn't good for bugatti

crayzayjay 04-30-2005 01:14 PM

The SLR looks completely vulgar imo. Even more so than the Veyron, with that ridiculously long nose and fat arse. The concept was much better looking.

caneswell 05-01-2005 03:16 PM

It may be fast in a straight line but it won't go round corners!

0-60 it will be difficult to beat, all that weight and all wheel drive will make it have silly traction and enough power to get it to moving quickly. But once above 40-50 mph the Konigseggs greater power to weight will beat it quite considerably! And it will go round corners too!

JC was being a b**ch when he drove the Lambo, he said he didn't want to fry the clutch from a standstill which is total BS. I've seen plenty Murc's take off with wheels spinning(faster than JC lazy 1st gear slow take off) from dropping the clutch. It would have been a closer race if he drove it correctly.

Fair choice. Clarkson was right about the acceleration on the AWD. At the end of the last top gear series Clarkson talked about the car briefly and then told everyne that hammond was going to be the one driving it. This didn't make sense at first: Clarkson is all about power and brashness. Then he explained. They have got the power right, but they are having difficulty with the brakes and the steering.

I'd take pretty much any car that didn't have those problems over the Veyron.

martin100 05-05-2005 02:10 PM

I donīt know how long they planned the car to make it the best there is, but it have to be 6 years or more. With all the money they invested and that enormous price tag it simply has to be special. And i also donīt think that the steering will be bad or worse than i.e. the one of the Pagani Zonda. The potential customers had to wait so many years as Bugatti even wanted to release it back in 2002 that they mustnīt be disappointed as this would be very bad for Volkswagen. They canīt afford this after a so long time cause they promised that the car is only late because they had to make it perfect. Imagine what would happen if it wonīt be! Volkswagen would maby never build a supercar like this again...
But i really canīt wait for the first test, esp TG  I donīt think that JC would let Hammond drive this sort of car. He was just joking as always.

Z3uS 05-05-2005 03:53 PM

I dont like the Veyron too much, its a powerful car but the design is a bit odd in my opinion.

Iīd prefer 1000x the Gemballa Mirage GT

Gnome 05-06-2005 07:32 AM

This project has taken too long. I'm not that interested anymore. Impressive power and great looks, but that's it. I think it will be too heavy to handle as it should, too.
