Those are pretty interesting articles, I just pray that the Lamborghini diesel isn't going to happen - that would just ruin Lamborghini as a brand.

Lambo is in hands of VW- i think its possible, but it will be bad dream,
last clean place will be destroyed- diesel supersport-
klapy klap :D

mrzonda 12-18-2004 02:03 PM

I'm really looking forward to that zonda that's coming to geneva in a few months. :D Then im looking forward to seeing evo test it against the CGT, enzo, koenigsegg, etc.

I don't think so, I actually think it could be a good thing to have a sportscar with a diesel on the market. Torque ;)

diesel 5.0 V10 TDI
petrol engine 5.10 V10 biturbo - look at AMG or something like that,
petrol had more power, more torque with same engine, and diesel is very heavy,

Yah.... a Murcie really hasn't got enough torque :P

Diesel will kill the brand, i doubt that VW are that stupid. They seem to be getting clever-er... look at the new golf GTi.... however, the Phaeton was another shit decision, along with the last two GTis

OVERLORD_CHRIS 12-18-2004 03:00 PM

Can't wait for the Zonda, not like i can buy one, still i love that car. And some thing to beat that ugly-azz Enzo! Wipe the Smile rite off there faces hahahaha

Oh my god the nightmare start again... few month ago I said wait 2 year and you'll see
a lambo with a diesel engine but didn't thought it will happen. I just hope it will only be
for the SUV project (LM something).

A big thanks to Audi that I hate everyday more and more :-(

Evo 12-18-2004 03:49 PM

I though lambo was put on earth for 1 thing.. to distroy it.. not to be kinder to the enviroment.. This is really silly I don't care if it is better for the enviroment.. it would suck big time and it would be like a tracker..lool.. This is stupid.. next thing you know they will be building SUV.. ohh wait they already started thinking of that.. .. Lambo is losing it.. :|

Pimp Racer 12-18-2004 04:00 PM

WHAT A 630 BHP Zonda! That is so freeaking cool! Thanks alot!

mrpushrod 12-18-2004 04:07 PM

Zonda good, diesel Lambo bad.

astonmartinandy 12-18-2004 04:14 PM

I'm sorry but even if a Lamborghini diesel had 1000 Lb/ft of Torque, it would still be nothing compared to a proper petrol engine. Lamborghini are supposed to be wild exotic cars that have great big, aggressive V12 petrol power and deliver the driver with the sense of occassion that only a Lambroghini can. A Diesel would ruin the reputation and destroy any respect I had for the company.

What happened to the days of the Miura which would randomly spit out bits of fiery hot oil onto the engine, out of spite, just to make things interesting for the V12 driver

SilviaEvo 12-18-2004 04:16 PM

Supercars shouldnt be diesel they should be a raging snarling unfriendly monster that eats baby seals! now the Zonda on the other hand is a perfect example i mean 20 inch wheels for bigger brakes?!!? who woulda thought?

i agree that a diesel Lambo may not be the most glorious idea, but consider the fact that diesel is more powerful than petrol. it's easier to make a 9 second diesel drag engine than it is to make a 9 second petrol drag engine.
it could be quite interesting to see

bmwmpower 12-18-2004 06:28 PM

diesel is more powerfull to petrol?

you see compare same engines
2.0 Turbo Petrol- normal power is about 200 hp- best 400 hp EVO
2.0 Turbo diesel- im not sure but 2.0D from BMW 163 hp,normal TDI 2.0 140 hp

3.0 Turbo diesel- best 220 hp from Audi year 2004
3.0 Turbo petrol- 1994 Supra 330 Hp

So compare same engines, yes new diesels are impresive but not more powerfull then petrol

1zippo1 12-18-2004 06:36 PM

I allways liked the Zonda more then the Enzo, so I'm certainly cool about a new Zonda that can outperform an Enzo.

And then naturally an M1 is one car we've all been waiting for. With a 3.0 310hp engine it WILL definitly kick ass bigtime. It will definitly also motivate more people to get a normal 1series, so good job BMW. Just hope we don't have to wait to long for this one!

 But the other news makes me very sad... :(
Common, the purest car there is... you just cannot give it a diesel engine. A lambo allways has been THE raw performance car. Ferrari's were often more refined but didn't have the power to match it. Nowadays I allways thought Audi is doing a good thing with Lamborghini and now this ... This just makes me very mad :x and sad :( at the same time.

torque ratings on a diesel are alot higher than on petrol. Why do you think frieght trans, tanks and semi trucks are all diesel? try and do that shit with gas and all you're going to get is shrapnel. WHY? because diesel burns hotter, and heat is the best way to create HP.
Engineer a diesel engine to rev to 6 grand and i'm sure you'll see some cool shit.

now i;m not saying that a diesel lambo is a good idea, i'm just saying don't knock the idea unless you really think about the advantages of diesel. Put the right gearing behind it and will hold its own.

and now that i've read the M1 article.....i like the idea of an S V12  only issue i can see is creating confusion with fans of the original M1.

Any car this wide, in which you sit this low, with a bonnet this long, which weighs this much, whose gearbox action is this slow and whose overall gearing is this tall, cannot be the fastest thing on the roads of Britain.
WTF?? These autocar test drivers call themsleves drivers? Seems they were afraid of the Viper...

What a bunch of pussies...

The story reads like some whining tree-hugger... Autocar is the type of magazie a flip through at the book store ad ever actually pay for.

Great News about the Pagani! Love that car. and 630bhp to boot is all the better. (I hope its torque remains astronomical as well.) And an "all new, more extreme model" in 2007? Already, the anticipation...

yes torque rating are good, but think about this 6.0 V12 AMG has 1200 NM

tata1234 12-19-2004 11:21 AM

Thank's for those news.

Can't wait to see the new BMW M models.

As regards the new model it is intended to be a proper hypercar which aims to compete with likes of the F60 whereas the original zonda and even the S-version were supposed to be just a fairly fast supercars which attractivity was based rather on the outlandish look and the exclusivity.
It is also said to use the V12 from the Chrysler ME-412 putting 850 horses..But based on the Autocar's info I would say it could have a 720hp version of the current NA V12 lifted from the latest CLK-GTR.Considering the weight of approximately 1100kg it is obvious that even the 800+hp F60 will get a hard time.

neilo63 12-22-2004 06:54 AM

Deisel huh .... *spew*

martin100 12-22-2004 12:32 PM

Wow i cant wait to see the new Zonda!!! And the M1 will also be very nice with this 310hp engine
