ALMS: LG Motorsports in big trouble

Lou Gigliotti, who's made a big jump from Speed GT series to American Le Mans Series is in trouble as he's left without a sponsor and a second driver. Not only that, he'll have to return his race car to the developers.

I've met him and he's a really nice guy. It's sad to see him in such big hole.

Perhaps he shouldnt have made the jump to ALMS without more guarenteed dollars. The private guys playing in the ALMS sandpit have networths that begin with the letter B... and Lou was always going to be a bit out of his financial depth without a huge backer.

That car wasn't really competitive to begin with, GT2 has been a Porsche vs Ferrari race from the get go.

Obviously, they were going after the Ford GT-R and Panoz Esperante and maybe even the brand spanking new AM V8 Vantage. It might be competitive with bit more work since it was able to keep up with the other (at least mid-range) cars in its class. And LG's still doing better (in points) than Le Mans winners Mika Salo and Jaime Melo in ALMS this year. Lol.

But anyways, Gigliotti wasn't ready financially. Signing up with a sponsor that had an option of bailing out mid-season was very risky. And I'm not even sure why he made the move from Speed GT in the first place.

In any case, I'd hate to not see him in both Speed GT and ALMS next year.

I also think his fiery personality may have burned some bridges over the years.
