C'etait un Rendezvous - The movie that started it all

"It Was an Appointment" is one of the best movies i've ever seen, and it only lasts for about 8 minutes.

It consists of french director Claude Lelouch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claude_Lelouch) driving his Mercedes through Paris at 05.30 AM at incredible speeds.

He races at great speed, having some close calls, almost hitting pedestrians - he has himself claimed that the he managed to hit 200 km/h.
This is the movie that started "Street Racing" and everything between.
Movies like the Getaway in Stockholm series was inspired by this movie, so whenever you see a car chase on tv through chinatown you now know who came up with it first.

Nice video, but for the full movie experience you should grab the DVD from the tracker 8-)

While this is a great little movie, it really didnt "start" anything viz-a-viz car chases etc.

This type of filming had been around since the firs time someone hung a camera on a car.

Even the 1971 French Connection had a similarly filmed car chase - not to mention 2 Lane Blacktop, Grand Prix etc.

Nice movie none the less.

Actually, my point is that while it is a great little movie, it is not the first such attempt at this type of filming... there were many other movies showcasing similar camera work for chase scenes etc many years before this one was made.

What this movie did was apply a daredevil unauthorized rebel twist to the filming.

It was done on unmonitored open public roads without permission - it possibly pioneered that concept. :)

Although I wonder how eal the Getaway in Stockholm series really are - I mean its not like the cops dont know who films them hehe.

Yea, find it amazing too...
I mean, having a website and commercials on it + dvd's...

They look like they don't care about the cops tracking them down...

But this was supposed to be a in-the-wild vignette using a Ferrari - so I guess it kinda does lose it's luster once exposed :) hehe

The sound was from his ferrari thats true...
