I have never had a Playstation but I'm thinking of buying one. Do you people that own PS1/PS2 really want to play your old games on the PS3?

Propably a sofware bug that's pretty easy to fix.

^Why not....and those are not just any games, those are the more popular ones too. That said, I don't see ppl not buying PS3 becoz of that.

i didnt' own a playstation until I could pick up a new PS2 for under $100; and also until there was a game worth buying it over... (GT4) which saw me also buy the DFP for 40$ under MSRP new.

I didn't buy my xbox until i found one for 68$ brand new; but i had already about 8 games by the time i bought it (roommates had an xbox)

Game Cube, i bought for 80$ new, and bought it soley for Zelda: The windwaker; but have about 3 or 4 games for it

friends of mine bought the PS2, and continued playing thier PS1 games for years w/out the hassle of carrying along a second system. Honestly, that is an important thing.

but ultimately, the name of my game... why pay full price when you can buy brand new with years left of life for much less?

computers are the ONLY thing worth getting/building when they first come out.

also, the only video game system i bought on launch was the Nintendo 64... super mario 64 baby! and a few other fun games back then. LOL, my gamecube was 120$ less then my N64, my Xb0x was 140$ less then my N64, and my PS2 was over 100$ less then my N64. Interesting comparison :)

Heh, not suprised.. Companies these days are rushed by consumers to get out a product for the Holidays.

I'm sure these bugs will be fixed.. But I'm sure as hell not going to buy a PS3 anytime soon unless I'm going to resell it.

i would get a PS2 for now and wait for the PS3 to come down on price and you wont get the bugs and the hit games will be out and coming down in price. you can get a slim ps2 in silver or black for $130 now.

Quote from gamespot.com:

A Sony spokesperson told GameSpot, "We are aware that a select number of titles have compatibility issues but these problems will be fixed with a software upgrade that will be available in the near future."

Thats funny, because that was playstations big thing when the 360 was comming out was that it would be completetly backward compatable back to the PS1. HaHa at the Plastation lovers

It's not like it will not be fixed. Since when does MS come out with bug free products?

MS never said that the backward compatability was going to include all games, PS did. And yes, MS does come out with a TON of bugs in their systems, and it updates everytime u sign in to XBOX Live, but that was supposed to be the PS's attraction, no bugs and all backwards compatability. All the PS fans tore the people who bought 360s apart after the system came out. The PS3 hasnt come out and they are already announcing bugs.

The box would run fine though, it was just the backwards compatability was a bit choppy on a few games. The Playstation has to be updated BEFORE it can work properly, or at least that is what I understand.
