5 fucking weeks?!?!?!?! Jesus tap dancing Christ! I'd love 5 weeks of vacation a year :?
I only get 5 paid days (1 work week) (which i'm taking 4 of them 1st week in July) and 5 paid sick days :? It's customary here to take "sick" days though
Some placed though accumulate more vacation depending on how long you've worked for them. eventually topping out at 3-4weeks

I accumulate one day a month if I remember right.

Average work days are 8 hours long in Switzerland, not counting lunch break. So with a 1 hour lunch at noon, you'll work from 9 to 6, or 5 to 8... whatever time you come to work.
Vacation time is quite often 5 weeks, but this is nothing compared to what they offer in France, where vacation time is like 8 weeks for my colleagues, and they only need to work like 35 hours a day.
eh, vive la revolution! lol
They don't get paid as much as I do however.
I don't take a lot of vacation, which is why I've accumulated them over the years. Right now I have like 40 days of vacation which I "should" take, but I don't really have the time. I also usually work closer to 9-10 hours a day not counting other overtime which I might spend doing some troubleshooting at night, weekends, or during business trips where I easily work roughly 80-100 hours a week...
Unfortunately my company is reluctant to pay for overtime (so far I've managed to convince them ;) ), and I'd much rather they give me my vacation days in cash. I'm only planning to take one vacation trip (2 and a half weeks) this summer, so what the heck am I gonna do with the other +20 days?
Oh well...

80 Days+ of paid vacation? wow..
If I was a full time employee instead of just on a 6 month internship, I would get 100hrs of paid time off. With paid holidays on top of that..
Since I'm only hear for the first half of the year, I was only able to use up about 4 days of PTO and we only had 1 holiday (Memmorial) versus the latter half of the year which gets almost 2 weeks of paid holidays.. (thanks giving and winter break)

I get one week every year untill I hit 6 full weeks of paid vacation. But, if I'm still working there and making anywhere near what I am now in 6 years, I'm shooting myself................ after I use my 6 weeks of vacation.

I'd use it to make a lot of 3 day weekends.
