so, what cars are in the game?

from what I can tell from the headlights, there's at least a Ford GT

Also this game will be out for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but don't ask me when

 this looks very interesting!

From the headlights I could see Porsche Carrera GT, Murcielago, and Ford GT. Hopefully all the exotic brands will be in this version.

Thanks for the info vexor.

Very interesting, glad to know the NFS series is finally back on track with the exotics!!!

Thanks vexor!

I think this version will be like underground with exotics. Moding exotics would be great idea. But still my favourite NFS is Prsche Unleashed. Ferrari/Lamborghini/Maserati/BMW Unleashed would be better any arcade moding care races.

^^^^ I agree but i don't want another tuner game. I really want the next hot pursuit. Just pure cop chases in daylight with the fastest exotics. Enzo, CGT, SLR, F1, CCR etc if this game has some of the new supercool supercars than it will be worth buying.

Tuning sucks, especially the patent of "visual tuning to gain respect" BS.

05-20-2006, 11:48 AM
^^ yep .. jjust like in the NFS 3 ... ther should be 3 different classes .... the only option should be tuning the suspention the aero setting like different wings .. and tyre setups e.g slicks or hard compound etc etc :)

OK.

SO how is is that EA manages to get all the manufacturers the let them license the cars and crash them, paint them, decal them, bodykit them and genereally abuse the image, likeness, presence and overall theme of the cars.

Yet...

All these other game makers all claim "we have no damage because the license holders won't let us" or "we have no bodykits because the manufacturers wont let us" or "we have no painting because the manufacturers wont let us" or "we cannot have races vs those cars because manufacturers wont let us" or "we cant do any of the above because the licenses are too much" etc etc etc etc and some other tripe stories.

Yet crap movies like FF series and "certain" game makers manage to turn out licensed trash year after year after year.

It would seem someone is bullshitting the buying community.

Daggernite
05-21-2006, 01:19 PM
^^^ basically EA are so rich, they can afford to make these deals. Also movie production cost easily cover such things. Well im not 100% sure, but I think its something like that.

RC45
05-21-2006, 01:57 PM
^^ But Microsoft has more petty cash than EA has had income since they were founded... yet PGR/2/3 and Forza among others have al ben plagued with the same excuse to varying degrees.

I think more than half of the license woe stories are bullshit is what it really is - it just became fashionable to use it these days ;)

Also some new info on the game
Some new details about the next entry in the Need for Speed series have popped up. First off, the game will be appearing on the Wii and DS, poor little GBA left out this time. The game appears to be a mix of Need for Speed: Underground and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. You will still have the ability to customize your car, known as “pimping your ride” to the younger generation. The police chases make a return, and you will find yourself on narrow roads, and deep within canyons trying to avoid capture. Apparently there will be a a driving crew of some sort, each with different talents related to cars (such as tuning). The opponents you race against will also feature certain characteristics, for example, some people may try to ram your car off the road, while a drafter will ride behind you to catch your draft. The game is called Carbon because it takes place in Carbon Canyon, a popular place in California for motorheads to meet. Finally, there will be anywhere from 50-100 vehicles, with Porsche being included this time around.

goddamn straight, you people need to focus on what a NFS game is intented for - this a thé game for the tuning scene.

We all have the same passion in general: CARS, but in this you have many different kinds of racing. I'm getting fed up with people looking down on tuners, if you don't like it then you don't like it! But that doesn't permit you to go out and insult everyone who's involved in it!

This is why i hate forums, it gives people a means of expressing themselves in a way that they would never do in reality. It's ow so tough to act like this in here, but we all know that you would never express your 'frustrations' in realtime.

And if you do, well then you could be in for a hectic time :fist:

Firstly I really have to say that I dislike tuner cars in general.

Secondly, its different in my opinion when you have an import cars like Honda’s, Toyota’s etc, that people put ridiculous body kits on because those don't look good from the start, so it doesn't get any worse in most cases.

but when you have a fine exotic supercars that looks beautiful and purposeful from the start, and then you put those insanely nasty kits on them for unknown reason that doesn't help the performance in any way, then its like putting nasty dirty prison cloths on a beautiful naked babe.

Do you see my point!

You're be right for the last couple of NFS releases but certainly previous ones.

For most people who've been playing NFS since the pre-EA era (NFS 1), NFS is about exotic cars and cars you don't get to drive/see everyday... okay, TT gets to see them everyday but that's an exception ;)

McLarenboy
07-22-2006, 12:57 PM
@r2r: i understand completely why everyone hates tuning

- there are those that feel that the way the car comes out of the factory is just perfect, well guess what

- there are those that feel a need to modify a car to justify their personal needs, it's not about somebody thinking he can do much better then the manufacturer it's just about personalising the car

-----------------------------

and plz, the real reason why this game is developped is quiet simple - fast and the furious movies, that's the reason why so many people suddenly are interesting by tuning, so EA obviously responds by making games to make a couple of million bucks, nothing to it.

Game looks good, an update of Most Wanted with three classes; Tuners, Muscle and Exotics. Also features a new tuning mode called Autosculpt which, within reason, allows you to sculpt your own bodyparts, angle of vents dimensions etc. Also heard a rumour the F1 will be making a return in the game? Anyone else know. Would be an extra big reason to buy it.

well the last good NFS imho was Porsche unleashed..
I have nothing again tunning (a huge BMI fan actually..).. but the prob is nfs kits looks like shit, till now a fully tuned 206 / civic could go head to head with a CGT for example, and kits on supercars are just one big NO NO! plus the whole extra story they've been try to give to the games, it just doesn't work.. making everybody act like gangsters, "ruling the streets" its all way too F&F stupid.. I do hope the guys over at EA will be replaced with actual people that know a thing or 2 about cars..

Fleischmann
10-28-2006, 06:23 AM
Just downloaded the demo. I played it for a few mnutes and was disgusted with what I saw. More of the same exotc car gay-tuning crap. The game instantly screams "I'm a stupid arcade". In different modes there are totally different physics, which is just retarded. The graphics are ok, the motion blur looks good, but all the cars seemed to be wraped in some glowiing plastic.

It's obvious that EA wanted to make money on the commercial success of F&F3. This game will sell well only thanks to the name it holds. But Need for Speed is dead to me.

SPEEDCORE

Yeah I just d/l the demo as well. I didnt mind the last 2 underground games(for that arcade fun), but this game.... it felt like a game from the early to mid 90's. It was aweful. I have already uninstalled it. As Fleischmann mentioned its like all the cars have a glowing plastic/chrome look to them.

The drift mode was a joke and the circuit with teammate mode... Who made those lame rules up?!?!?!!

Riceing up the muscle car with that new autoscuplture feature I just had to laugh my ass off!!!

Im glad Ferrari isnt part of this crap and I wished Lamborghini wasnt part of it either :(

Piece of Shit. Im tired of the underground stuff now. Like somebody said earlier, bring back the good ole need for speed games.

Lets see some. Porsche Unleashed, Hot Pursuit, Hot Pursuit 2...even Most Wanted wanst terrible...its fun running from cops.

I really miss Need for Speed II (my personal favorite). You guys remember how serious, creepy, and bjork-like the whole game and soundtrack was. It was like the game was saying, "love the came for the cars or dont play". Long live the secret Ford car in NFSII!!! (cant remember the name)

NFS has always been arcade, don't bitch about that!

WTF?

If you want realism buy FIA GTR (2) or the other one simbin released with the older cars. But then again you cry because it is to realistic and hard to play.

WTF?

And the screenshots are allways the most riced out and extreme cars they show, because they have a big public that likes it. And you can allways go rather clean with the NFS series when it comes to the tuning of the cars.

WTF?

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!

I've owned every Need For Speed game ever made. My favorite by far was Need For Speed Porsche Unleased. The driving dynamics were spot on, you could tune the cars a little to make them a bit personal and a bit faster. I will not buy Carbon because I think they have sold out and have become to arcade-ish. Lets face it, Most Wanted was cool, but still basically sucked. The NFS game with the best physics was by far the NFS1. 1SE wasn't too bad either, but it was essentially a mild modification of the original. Each of the subsequent versions made the series far more arcade-ey and gave the cars far less realistic physical characteristics. The mild exception to this was Porsche Unleashed, but that having been said, it was still far more arcadey than the original game.

Well thats because NFS1 was actually a legit attempt at making a driving simulator...They got together with Road&Track to make a sim.

NFS2 and its successors where just pure arcade.

I loved all NFS up to 5.

NFS1 the game that got me into cars big time.

NFS2 was just great fun racing buddies split screen and having little tournaments in super exotics.

NFS3, a fucking legend of a game. Once again 550 and a Lambo SV Vs. Cops, it was something revolutionary, and the graphics at the time where amazing!

NFS4, well something of a service pack to NFS3, which cant be bad!

NFS5, great game, fun physics, a great FUN balance between arcade and mild sim.

NFS6 attempt at NFS3 which failed due to shitty physics and lame cops.

NFS7,8 just pure ghey.

To me NFS always was and always will be about super exotic cars at super exotic locations, running from cops, with interior view, dashboard gauges, and physics which ARE ARCADE but believable. Not utter bullshit like the underground series.

I loath for a new generation NFS3.

Id be happy with NFS3 with simply updated graphics, new sounds, more cars and tracks.
