You can have the best monitor less than 1000$.. So u can save lots of money.. Than u can spend much more for the other hardwares and etc..
Maybe if you were going to try and use it as one big display then that might be true...but I intend to use one application per screen...a couple of browsers open, some video editing going on, and all my communication windows open on the other. I am not really bothered about saving money so much.... more like just trying to get the best stuff that I want (within reason).
Jabba I'm not sure how many desktops windows can support. I dont think you can run 3different desktops, but on my LinuxSuse8.2 I can run 4muliple desktops.

Speaking of cases...I'd go for a Lian Li. It's bare aluminum, so you can get it painted in a nice black color if you want a black theme.

Besides - Windows XP has native multi desktop support - even with a bunch of regular video cards. You won't have any troubles Jabba... - just don't be tempted to the *nix side... LOL

As also explained here :

9X Media’s Multi-Screen Manager is a software utility designed to make multiple monitor computing even easier. It intuitively increases productivity and seamlessly enables the greater potential of multiple monitor computing. This powerful utility ships with all 9X Media X-Top Professional Series Multi-Screen systems.

With a click of the ‘Move window’ button you can instantly move windows and applications between monitors. With a click of the ‘Maximize to desktop’ button you can instantly spread your windows across all screens.

Smart Taskbar – Manage a variety of open applications more easily

9X Media Multi-Screen Manager adds an additional taskbar at the bottom of each additional monitor. Each of these taskbars only shows the tasks (applications/files) that will appear on that particular monitor when activating. With just a glimpse you know on which monitor your application will appear even before you activate it.

And confirmed here :

18. What are some of the uses of Multiple monitors?

Here are some of the possibilities:

Desktop Publishing/Editing: If you're editing word processing document frequently or combining two documents into one, you can utilize the second monitor as a place to keep the original(s) in view, so you can access them quickly.

Internet/Email: user can keep his/her e-mail program open on your second monitor so that his/her can see it at all times.

Research: If you're researching from the web or any other resource, move the research items or the launch pages to the second monitor for continuous reference.

Data Analysis: If the user performing a "what-if" analysis with a spreadsheet, place a copy of the original on the second monitor so that you can see the changes easily.

System monitoring: If you need to monitor your computer or network, keep the monitoring tools on the second display for easy access as you work.

Illustration/Photo Editing: In illustration or photo editing software, keep your illustration/photo on the main screen and the controls and tools on the extra screen.

CAD, CAID, CAM, CAE, 3D Modeling/Graphics: If your job requires working with graphic in fine details, expand it across the two monitors to avoid scrolling and resizing.

This is just some of the uses for multiple monitors, however the possibilities are endless.

19) How many screen can I run on one computer?

With Windows 98, you can connect up to 9 displays.

With Windows NT, you can connect up to 20 displays to one system

With Windows 2000, you can connect up to 10 displays to one system.

you can get some more contemporary cases from voodoo. pretty much anything you have in mind they can do. I know a lot of them are out there in terms of design. you can customize your own case I remember reading. Just contact them im sure they would be more than happy to answer your questions. But tell me this isnt cool:

as far as the gaming specs...you can really customize anything you want. nothing is set in stone when you are building your own personal computer. besides if you dont need a certain thing it could save you money.
