Default Honda CB750F "SuperSport"

Just wondering, does anybody have any experiences with the 1979-1982 Honda CB750F SuperSport bikes? I'm looking at picking one up as an around-town ride, and something I could haul to track days at Road America.

(The CBX in the background is hot too, but I don't think I could ride a bike with a straight six.)

only experience I have related to this bike, is the fact that I have an 80s honda aswell... it looks like a nice bike, and if its just around down you shouldnt have any problems. Just make sure you dont put yourself in a position to depend on this bike, becuase having an old bike means stuff will go wrong with it often. Not major stuff, but little petty stuff, such as plastics break off, electronic parts give out, cable gives out....little stuff like that can hold you back since you most likely wont be able to go to your local honda dealer and pick up these parts since they are so old.

Heavy and slow by todays standards - but what an awesome UJM - Universal Japanese Machine.

Awesome fun bike to learn and keep. The one you have pictured is not stock and appears to have had everything upgraded - only making a great all-rounder even better.

For those that didn't know, Honda invented the across the fram 4 cyclinder 750 as the UJM in 1969. Everything after 1969 has been an attempt to cathup and take saled from Honda - the greatest and most accomplished motorcycle builder the world has ever seen

Yeah, I wouldn't depend on it, I have cars for that.

I wouldn't really care if the bike was heavy and slow, I mean I'm sure it's fast ENOUGH, especially for an amateur rider, and it looks like they can be modified pretty nicely as well.

I was also looking at the VFR Interceptors but those seem a lot fancier than what I want in a bike.

vfr's are sweet... I am thinking about pickin one up myself... but I think im gonna hold off, and try to find an rc 30 or rc 45 first. Whatever I get, will of course come AFTER I get my "modern" sportsbike which will either be a rc-51 or 600rr, which I will be picking up this christmas.

^^ If you want a 30 or 45 bring your cheque book - prices start at about $15,000 - and depending on time of year and sun spots can creep to $20,000+

I really like 80's sportbikes, but the only new bike I'd want is the new Triumph Speed Tirple. They look pretty badass.

The naked Honda CBR is damn cool too (forget what the designation is though).

Priced at $9000 and $12000 or chassis number 9 and 12? They may have been only bid to $9000 and $12000 - but they wouldn't have sold for that. AT that price it is simply not worth selling.

Building one will not be possible. There are simply not enough spares left.

I managed the RC45 registry for a while - remember only 55 chassis came to North America - including all the ones raced.

We only ever accoutned for about 30 of them, and mine #20 and 6 others were the only ones being riden. I had mine from 800 miles till I sold it with 8000 miles - put the miles on in 3 years - easily the highest mileage in the shortest time.

The bike was just to good to not ride. So after I stopped riding it regularly, I sold it into a collection of 4 RC45's and 3 RC30's in California.

It sees regular road use.

Great bikes, UJMs. When I was a young lad I'd dream of Z750s and CB750s etc etc

Around 1981 I was at Primary school. One of the teachers had a Z1100. Always promised myself a bike from that day forward!
