Default Killed Enzo # 4 (totalled- driver with serious injuries)

Fast Pass Car Crashes
August 2nd, 2006 @ 3:55pm
(KSL News) -- A serious crash marred the final day of a big road rally through Utah.

The cars started their event at Miller Sportspark in Tooele on Monday. The rare cars have been touring national parks and cities in Utah as part of the event.

For the final day, drivers raced down a closed section of highway to see how fast their cars could really go. That's when one of them crashed.

The driver was flown to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center with serious

hopefully the driver pulls through

some more info

S/N 131320, Richard Losee...

Miraculously, Mr. Losee is still alive after that accident, which happened around 10a.m. this morning. A few injuries, but surgery won't be necessary. Officials say had he been in another car in an accident like that, he wouldn't be alive.

Before anyone starts, it should be noted that this accident happened during a controlled rally. One portion of the rally consisted of "high speeds", where police officers would clock you. They would then write you a ticket and your fine would go to charity. The road on which this portion of the rally was conducted was closed and supervised by the proper authorities.

Losee participates in many rallies and this is just one of many ways he gives back to the community. My sincerest regards to him for a speedy recovery.
possibly the T-tops enzo?

I think this may point to an inherent high speed instability problem with Enzos on bumpy public roads.

Ferrari should not be tuning their road cars at Fiorano... but rather the Nurburgring

From the horses mouth - Richard was going close to 200mph, and hit a bump in the road that sent him airborne. The car rolled 7 times and was flat as a pancake. Fortunetly he was wearing a helmet. He has cracked vertebrae in his neck and back, 4 broken ribs, broken sternum, some broken fingers, and the only surgery he made need is on his thumb. Nothing life threatening. He is refusing pain medication because he thinks he needs to be punished!p
not a car to hit any bumps in, for sure.... but what an amazing safety cage!

So - it's true.. the chassis is tuned for F1 tracks... not the road.

I was reading that the 360 has a very faulty design, where at high speed incidents, the cabin splits wide open.... which only happened to the enzo in Italy...

it makes me think that perhaps the F cars are just too stiff to run at speed on regular roads

I heard thats why there are no F-cars in the GranTourismo franchise.. they handle too poorly... no match for the Skylines and Evos..

Luckily that the rollcage on the enzo is working properly... otherwise we would have seen a lot of dead millioners.

Mr. Losee is the gent who has been "long-term testing" his car for Road and Track. I feel really bad for him, as he's obviously a real petrolhead and loves to drive his cars. The Enzo that he crashed had run up something like 20,000 miles since he purchased it, and it was the unique Enzo with a second set of "targa" doors.
