Default Ford GT hp rating

http://media.ford.com/newsroom/featu...?release=17955

It says the GT has 550 hp. It used to be 500 hp even, right? I read a few reviews about the GT, givien its performance figures, it seemed well underrated. 550 hp sounds more reasonable.

Ford gave it a higher rating a while ago. I have heard some say 565. But 550 is what the GT's site says...

More than likely its still underrated. And yea you are not going crazy it was 500.

yea i was wondering too about the HP change, i had heard rumors about 550 but i didnt know if they had officially changed it. so did they actually increase the hp or did they just re-rate the engine?

I have heard that when they would put the GT's on a chassis dyno, it would spin the rollers to the tune of around 565 hp to the rear wheels, and the engineers said the engine wasn't even broken in yet. We shall see

550 hp/ 500ish ft. lbs is the factory backed claim, and is likely slightly higher (if its colder out lol)...
anyway...
officially yesterday the news on the top speed is out... at least in inner ford circles!!

205mph top speed !!!!!
it takes 4 miles altogehter, and beats out the original 202mph of the Ford GT40. extensive testing has truly paid off compared to the pre production press cars!

Most of the owners will probably never take it past 140mph or do a single standing start burnout anyway...

The net result is that if we come across one on the street it will not pose much of a challenge - much like many of the F360's and Gallardo'a around town...

Now you sound like the GM area rep...

The owners video shows the car being beat on like a Turkish prisoner... so I am simply following the owners video..

nice comparison there and I agree you should do with it what they showed you, unless they show it being trailed around town like a Honda insight at full throttle.
