Default Sparkplugs + glass = what?

I read from somehwere that the Anarchist's Cookbook mentions that the porcelain from a spark plug can be used to shatter a window. They say to blow on a pea-sized chunk of the stuff and throw it at a window and the window should spiderweb. Does this have something to do with resonance, and has anyone here actually tried it? It's only supposed to work with certain types of glass(i.e. not safety glass)

TIA

Just smash the glass with the butt of your elbow.

i dont think so..the reason the spark plug is cermaic is because it has to withstand the high temperatures of the engine. it really doesnt make too much sense that if you were to blow on it(which is weird enough in itself) it would start something, what if it were thrown against glass would cause some sort of reaction. but then again if u were to plow on a plate and throw it agains a window i guess it'd shatter...but not for the aboe reasons

from looking around i've found that theres a little truth in what was initially suggested. supposedly the ceramic material of the sparkplug is very hard, and thats what causes the window to shatter. u're supposed to swing it around a couple of times on the end of a string to get some speed then hurl it at the window which will shatter. mind you it wont work on the front windscreen cuz its laminated and wont shatter.
