Default TVR Tuscan R(T440R) what does everyone think?

With the T440R, traditional strengths have been taken to an altogether higher level. Its stunning bodywork is all carbonfibre, its massively strong chassis uses aluminium honeycomb to greatly improve its stiffness, and its hugely powerful engine is connected to TVR's own six speed sequential gearbox. It is TVR's technological tour de force, a 215 mph showcase for TVR's abilities.

Two versions of the car are available - the T400R which has a 400 bhp 4 litre engine and the ultimate T440R. The engine of the T440R is a derivative of TVR's own Speed Six engine but has been extensively developed in order to produce a huge 440 bhp. It is bigger than any other TVR six cylinder engine at 4.2 litres and has a raft of high tech Motorsport componentry. 60 mph comes up in less than 4 seconds but it is from there to its top speed of 215 mph that the Tuscan R really leaves the competition standing.

To cope with all that power, the car has not just a new chassis, but a new type of chassis. Designed from the ground up with the aid of sophisticated CAD/CAM software, the rigidity of the steel chassis is added to significantly by the race-type rollcage and the use of aluminium honeycomb and carbonfibre for the floor.

Also a first for a roadgoing TVR is to have adjustable dampers whereby customers will be able to fine-tune the suspension set up of their T440Rs for road or circuit use. Brakes are powerful ventilated discs all round with four piston callipers at the front with a high performance option of even bigger discs and six piston callipers for even better stopping ability.

You can count the number of road cars that have had all-carbonfibre bodywork on the fingers of one hand - Mclaren F1, Ferrari F40 and now TVR T440R. More normally found in the aerospace or Motorsport industries, this material is expensive but is extraordinarily light and strong.

Aerodynamics have played an increasingly significant role in the design of TVRs over the last few years and the T400R and T440R take this to the logical next level. A lot of attention has been paid to drag and lift with the result that its coupe shape owes most of its from to the demands of the aerodynamicists. A phenomenally low drag coefficient of 0.32 is the result of all this attention to detail and its virtually flat floor, front splitter and rear diffuser work together to give it unparalleled high speed stability.

The interior of the T440R reflects its race car underpinnings with a distinctly minimalist style pervading the interior. Unusually, the carbonfibre and aluminium structure of the car is highly polished and left on show, giving the cabin a utilitarian but extremely high quality feel. The seats are unique to the model and are manufactured from carbonfibre but trimmed from the highest quality Scottish hides.

the read diffuser looks like it was glued on..knowing TVR is probably was, and although u dont have a shot of the front i prefer the standard grill, and the standard rear light assembly. i do like the extended rear window tho

I'm a great fan of TVR and their handling and the way they drive and a car with these specifications MUST be thrilling to drive! So this makes the thumbs go up!

Very nice car, I just dont like the huge holes in the back for the tailpipes. They shouldve made it more integrated IMO, or just made the holes big enough to fit the tips out of.

Ai, the endpiece of that exhaust is really horrid. The guy who came up with that idea should get 10 beatings with a stick and promise never to do it again!

I'm a fan of TVR,a nd this is one of the most beautiful cars in the world! Evo drove the pre-production car and Metcalfe was enthusiast of this car, and at teh time it has only 390bhp, not the full 440...and the 5 speed manual gearbox, not the 6speed sequential derivated from the mighty Cerbera Speed 12. Now the 2 exhaust are of different shape and are more integrated with the back of the car.

And now there's the T550R, with a 4.2 straight six with a compressor...impressive...550bhp( same as the Zonda) in a car that weights 1045kg...with a six speed sequential gearbox...
If I had enough money, a T550R would be in my garage!

coefficient drag of 0.32 is that ver impressive???

condsider this guys..a g35sedan/couple 350z has a coefiicient drag of 0.26with sport pkg, and 0.28with normal package

if i owned that car i would KILL MYSELF!!!
all that power, very little weight, NO ABS NO AIRBAGS!!!
then a wet road, very scary indeed.
looks nice, goes fast.. but it would kill me!
sorry but im just been realistic....
they diden't mention the konisigg CC as one of the cars with all carbon fibre!

I love TVRs, but I would be scared shitless driving this thing. 440 hp from a straight six in a light car with no driver aids! Mad as ever... Lookswise, I'd rather have a Griffith 500 or a T350C.

Common Beav. Honestly, thats something I love. No ABS, no TTC, all that power, fuck the AIR bags. GIMME THAT BABY The lack of driving aids just turns me on. Plus on todays cars ABS is not that esential. Look at all the race cars, and F1 cars. They got no ABS(excpet some race series). It just ads to the whole thril of driving. You gotta know how to work that brake pedal instead of stepping on it with all the leg power you got.

At first I didnt like the looks that much, but now I absolutly love it.

I think..if you're able to use your brain that's not reason why a car without TC, ABS and all that stuff is dangerous. If it's raining, keep the higher gear possible and be careful with the throttle. And how many times you had the ABS start working on normal use on the road?
It's also a good reasone to star learning how to drive a car, not only starting, parking and so on...
There's no airbag, but there's a rollcage, and with 4point belts I think it's very very safe. I'm in love with that car.
You know?Peter Wheeler, TVR's chairman said:" We still build cars for true etherosexuals"
And Jeremy Clarkson said:" I'm too gay for the T440R"

There's still a big difference between advanced driving and feeling comfortable with a 440 hp TVR on a rainy day, Chingachgook. Learning how to really drive a car is not best learned in a car like this. I think I know what you mean, but this is just too twitchy to be learning in. Even if you have a lot of experience in an Elise you still need to be very careful with this baby. Even Tiff would crash it if he's not paying attention...

Yes I know, but the point is, if you don't feel confortable in a rainy day, you have simply to go slowly. I know I'll never never be able to use 100% of this car, but I'll be rewarded by this car even if I'm not going so fast. Then there are tracks where you can try pushing a little harder, and if you spin, there the grass and not a concrete wall ( depends on the track you are  )

I didn't want to say you have to learn how to drive in such a powerful, light, wild car, but using the brain, being concentrate, you can use it! TVR are not made to drive you from point A to B, are built to be driven, and you have to be always concentrate on the driving. That's what I love about those kind of cars. Maybe I'm too radical
