Default Official: Mercedes R Class

Officially released today, the info and pics of the new R class. This car will be launched first in North America, in autumn 2005. Deliveries to customers in Europe will begin at the beginning of 2006.

Engines:
  • R 320 3.0 CDI with 224 hp and 510 Nm of torque (0-100 kmh in 8.8s, topspeed 215 kmh)
  • R 350 3.5 V6 with 272 hp and 305 Nm of torque (0-100 kmh in 8.3s, topspeed 230 kmh)
  • R 500 5.0 V8 with 306 hp and 460 Nm of torque (0-100 kmh in 6.9s, topspeed 240 kmh)
  • (R 63 AMG model with 480 hp)
All engines are coupled to a 7G-tronic auto transmission and an electronical controlled 4WD system.

I quite like it, front lights looks ... um.... different but its Merc, so could be a good car. Thanx Wutputt 5.0 V8 :shock:

its like a van on a car's chassis. i personally done like anything about it except the 5.0 :fadein:

I think this will actually do quite well, especially in Europe. Remember reading an article recently talking about the popularity of people movers there. And seeing there isn't really any luxury brand-made van there, this is a smart move by Benz to get in early. Also, BMW have announced they're developing one also.. Bring on the AMG power house people mover

Damn how many models do they have now? It is just like BMW coming out with 50 models. How many times could the pie be sliced?

Personal I do not like the car. I think I would pick either Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey over this.
