It's really a shame...but I agree that people who have this car and take these risks can afford the money in the case they crash with the car...but seeing this kind of car in this way make me feel sad...

It was basically another whole car. new, more rigid, chassis (I believe), new suspension, wheels/tires, madly tuned engine/exhaust, paddle-shifted sequential-manual gearbox, some slightly different body paneling, among other small mods...
Overall, it was a faster, more powerful, better-handling, lower, louder, lighter, meaner F50 8) do a search for the F50 GT elsewhere on these forums, there are at least two other threads on it that have more info.
For some reason, I don't see us finding out more info on whether it has been repaired yet until the guy releases pics of it again, or if someone takes newer vids of the fantastic car on a track.

It may not be original anymore, but it will still be rebuilt by Ferrari. Read this article

Hmm. That's a lot of money, and I'm sure that the owner will have to dig deep to have that baby repaired. Buying the car is one thing, but keeping on paying for it is another thing altogether!

What if the owner had track insurance...as in that really expensive kind that will repair your car, even if you crash it?

I bet he did have insurance. I don't think people with those kind of 'investments' go out and drive a car period without lots of insurance. I wouldn't be surprised if it's all covered, but his premiums are going to go through the roof I bet.

How is using the car a waste?
I really don't get how people can first envy someone's car, then get angry that they "only collect and don't drive" them - then get all pissed when they get damaged.

Big boys know the risks and face up to the possibility so I doubt he even whinced when it happened...
At least I am sure some who drives their car like this is well aware of the risk vs reward...
