Which file catolog software?

I'm sure most of you like me have gazillion of videos copied onto CD's or DVDs. The problem is i have no idea whether they are. So i'm sure some of you must be using some kind of software to catalog your stash. Which one are you using?

i actually took print screens of the files im burn on a specific cd ..... then i print then and use then as cd covers ....
this is more practical imo ..... if you make a catalog on your computer .. it might get tricky

I do't know if this is what's on your mind, but you can try Ant movie Catalog...it's generally used for making a database of the videos you possess, but you can also define what CD number the video is on. It's freeware.

yep thats similar to what i want but i want it to read filenames off my dvds. i've already numbered my dvd's. so finding the physical disc compared to the database will not be difficult for me. i just need a piece of software that will copy the filename into a database/catalog.

i do that anyways, but i have multiple dvds of the same stuff under the same folder name/strucutre. so the software should be able to place all filenames into the same category as if its just the one folder.

but does excel have a function that does it automatically by readingthe ontents on the disc?

if you really want a catalog that bad ...... why not TYPE the whole thing ...

i've found a softwre that does what i want, its 'Where Is It?'

its so easy, just place the disc into the rom and reads everthing automatically in milleseconds.

now the time consuming part is inserting every disc i have

yeah the old school technique workds really well ..

goto Run .. and open command prompt using 'CMD' .. or start >> all programs >> accessories >> command prompt .. .
then open the root directory where all the videos are .... then type ... | DIR /S > index.txt | .... if you use /b as alien said ... then all the videos will line up and it'll be pretty difficult to read all the lil letters ... soo just use /s cuz it gives folders in seperate portions ....
bahh .... i know i didnt explain it all that well .... just try it and see if it works ....

you've never used dos before ?
ok step by step
open the command prompt >> then open the folder where your videos are.. e.g my videos are in d drive in a folder named videos .. soo i'll type 'd:' to change ther drive ... then i'll type 'cd videos' to get into the folder
then ... i'll type

dir /s > index.txt

which will make a new text document in the videos folder ...
