Default Citroen Ax tuning help

I just bought a citroen ax. It has a 1.4 liter diesel engine. It is horrible! I'm thinking about getting a 1.8 turbocharged engine form the peugeot 205 xad turbo. Does anyone know if it can be done? And what about a good body improvement? It looks very bad and I would want to give it a proper racing look!!!

IMO you should forget about that engine transplant.. the chassis of the AX is not up to the task.. not meant to be a pocket rocket... you would be in deep trouble and to keep it on the road you'd need new wheels, suspensions, brakes and even more I fear...

So what should I do? I pushed it to 150 kms and it almost exploded!! It is rather economical. It does 4 litres to 100 kms. It couldn't be all bad, right?

Not it's not bad, but it's not meant to be an hot hatch definitely... IMO you should save the money for the next car maybe... to spend to much to upgrade the performance of the AX could be expensive and won't take you to far ...

get an AX GT those things r nippy!! and quite tunable. The handling on them isnt to bad form standard. But they do resemble a baked bean can in most of the crash pics ive seen!!!
I wouldnt wanna go over a tonne in one unless it had a roll cage and buckets!!

A friend of mine crashed one of those against the back of a truck and it almost killed him. I think it was an AX GTI. It went straight to the junkyard. They are too fast, but unsafe... I was thinking more of a face lift of my own. Maybe a nice spoiler, nice rims, etc. Any ideas of what I should buy?

Nah, mate, no offence, but u cant polish a turd.
U'd just make a car which was all show and no go. Mayb lowered 35 mm and sum 16 inch alloys. But thats like nearly 700-800 quids worth, so IMO it aint worth it. Why dont u save up, and if fuelcomsumption is what u r interested in get a peugot 306 1.9 tdi, they r really torquey as standard and if u get bored and dont care about fuel consumption, whack a chip on and they go like stink!! I think they go 4 pretty cheap now.
I dont mean to be harsh wiv my opening comment, but i have ridden in an AX 1 litre ( i think) for a couple hundred miles, and driven it a few. It rates umong one of the worst cars ive ever driven and been in!! even a mk1 fiesta 1 litre that failed the MOT handled better!!!!
This was an early Mk car, and urs mite not have shagged suspension as it did!!

Oh yeah, 4got, if u r thinking about fitting alloys, i seem to remember that ur car is a 3 stud fitment. This makes finding wheels (let alone wiv the right offset and size etc) a nitemare!! especially wiv the amount of AX's that are still alive!!

You're right. But I'm just tired of all those trucks overtaking me!!! LOL My average speed is about 90/100 kms, because if I push it, it starts heating up. It really is a shitty car, but my dad gave it to me, so I can't complain much, right?

I can't do even that, cuz if I stay too long behind a truck the engine starts to get really hot because there is no air flow cooling it!!!!!!!!!!
