To answer your questions

1. Yes, more due to the bulk of it (580lbs :shock: )

2. Not the 2006 V-max! Search this section of the site, we've done the 'what is the best starter bike' question before.

EX500, Suzuki GS500 are more than enough for your first bike.

Dual purpose bikes and the smaller cruisers also ok, try and stick below 60hp and 425lbs you will be ok.

It's difficult to recommend just a generic cc size for starter bikes. I can think of plenty of 1000cc bikes that would be ok although maybe a little heavy (easy to drop at low speeds). I can also think of 250's that would spit you off pretty quick if you arent used to bikes!
