1000 PS-update for the Saleen S7

http://www.auto-motor-sport.de/news/...n_s7.98439.htm

From what I understand, they will launch a 1000 PS update of the S7 for a target of 418 km/h  and less than 3 seconds for the 0-100 km/h. We will have to wait for Jeremy to test it :P

The Bugatti came out not long ago and already Saleen is having a bite at the Veyron. But from the past few years we have learnt that planning a ~1000BHp car and building are two completelly different things. Tires, gearbox etc. But I pressume there will be a smaller problem with the cooling, Saleen will probably stick to a V8.

Can any german speaking member kindly tell us more or less what the article is about ??

i can tell you its only running about 5psi from what somebody at Saleen told me ;) its already been tested, but not yet for top speed.

the 2005/6 std. S7 already is twin turboed, and estimated to hit 220. it has lower drag (40% less), and increased D/F(+60%) (larger venturi tunnels, and slight sculpting of the body including lenghthening the rear spoiler, and lowering its angle. i think it makes 750 hp while only running at something close to 2 psi

the 1000hp S7 is also a light-weight car :) although i doubt we'll see her on TG :? it would be great tho... especially with its slippery shape, and ground effects

5 psi and 1000 horsepower? Thats gangster. Wish i had some cash. :D

Turbos of the regular 750hp S7 max out at 5.5 psi. The maximum boost of the 1000hp version is about 10 psi.

It really is a great car, but the brakes seem to be underwhelming. 5.2 secs (even if that includes reaction time) from 100mph to zero is sort of shameful. They desperately need proper carbon-ceramic brakes.

However, the Saleen is a race car where the Veyron is an overweight tour-de-force of some guy desparately seeking to make history....

Now this is interesting.

BUT! Im waiting for the day when we will this get power in the shape of NA.

Damn...the 750hp version does 0-200mph in 23.4 sec (accord to Road & Track), I wonder what 1000hp will yield. One thing I hope Saleen does is change the looks a bit (more than what they did for the 750hp version, which is barely noticeable in my opinion), nothing major, but just to show the car is progressing, so you can tell the difference between the 550hp and 1000hp versions.

I hope this car crushes the Veyron. 8)

It has no ABS. If it did the stopping distances and time would be shorter.

at the LA autoshow Saleen wants to present a 1000PS-kit for the S7, which untill now "only" had 750. they're aiming at 418 kp/h and 0-100 in under 3sec.

It has very bad feel in the brakes then. Normally, if brakes are progressive and spot-on, ABS doesn't decrease braking distances. I remember a Zonda S out-braked an Enzo in a certain test (despite having smaller brakes) due to the fact it didn't have the intrusive ABS (hence it probably has very good feel in the brakes).
