Very surprising that schumi never took pole especially after his lap in Q2 he said he was conservative but I think he's got loads more fuel.

He ran wide in the first corner for both hot laps.

saadie 08-26-2006 04:41 PM

yep ... ferrari/schumi = one side :) ....

seriously ......... its no big deal ....

saadie 08-26-2006 05:11 PM

saadie 08-26-2006 06:14 PM

well ... you are wrong ......

anyway ..... Go Kimi ! 8)

bultaco_metralla 08-27-2006 08:10 AM

 So dirty that start maneuveur of Schumi and Massa.... pffff

 Poor raikkonen hit by speed !!

 44 laps left ... nice overtake of alonso to shcumi in pit lane LOL!! finally schumi will pass him with his missile

That safety car wasnt good for Pedro de la Rosa who was full fuel charged!!!

 15 laps to go... the start of an awesome battle-- Alonso-Schumi...

Pedro in 5th position !!! Hope he overtakes Button!!

Alonso wins this battle !!!! BOOOOYACAAAAA

now 12 points!!!

nthfinity 08-27-2006 09:37 AM

hell

Michael just couldn't get close enough in the high speed sections.... finishing less then 1. second behind Alonso...

how many times did he set the fast lap? 5? nearly a 1:28 flat!

4 more races in the next 2 months, and 12 pts. to retrieve.... Monza is almost a guarenteed 4 pt. regain over Alonso... so basically 8 pts. in 3 races means it will have to be a Ferrari 1-2 with Schumi up front if Alonso maintains being a top 3 car.

nickthaskater 08-27-2006 09:59 AM

Hell of a race, and real racing too, not influenced by rain and unknown tires and all of that crap. Amazing drive by Massa and I couldn't be happier for him. Seeing him up there on the podium choking back the tears, taking that 2-way champagne shower, ending up on the shoulders of the world champions, and finally almost breaking down during the post-race interviews, just amazing stuff to see.

Shame that Schumacher just couldn't get the most out of the car this weekend... From qualifying right to the end of the race, he just wasn't able to squeeze what he needed out of it. That safety car period, and then his turn 8 excursion, pretty much sealed his fate to be relegated to third place.

Nevertheless, fantastic late race charge, and great driving on both Alonso and Schumacher's part, and pretty much everyone else throughout the race as well. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

bmagni 08-27-2006 10:04 AM

great race. It was exciting from start to finish. Massa's driving was great and Schu's mistake in the 8th turn and the safety car messed up things.
In the final 15 laps it was clear that the Ferrari couldn't handle that turn well. But theres lots of chance to retireve those 12 points !

blackenzo 08-27-2006 10:31 AM

you could tell schumi didnt care wether massa won or not im sick to death of him. i respect what he has achieved but i dont respect him he s just a cheat a saw loser and thinks he is above everyone else. alonso is a top driver a top man and a top competitor and deserves to win the championship.

after what schui did at monaco people still support him that just shows there glory supporters and he has cheated on more than 1 occasion look what he tried to do to villeneuve in 1997 to win the championship

EVEN THE DRIVERS DONT LIKE THE IDIOT ANYMORE

CUM ON ALONSO AND RENAULT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!

nickthaskater 08-27-2006 10:41 AM

What the hell... I can't stand the blind hate some people display, it's ridiculous. Schumacher looked pretty happy for Massa, and he was even smiling when he took his helmet off, probably enjoyed the racing against Alonso and giving it everything he had.

Give it up with bullshit like that, it's just flat out disrespectful and pathetic. If you want to bitch about someone thinking they're above everyone else, go look at Alonso during Friday practice where he deliberately drove up the inside of Doornbos and ran into him, even after the session had ended.

Fucking wanker.

what was he supposed to do ? jump of joy and hug the man 10 times ? Massas win was great but not as important as the championship... thats the deal, yes it was great, yes he drove great but Schu lost 2 points in the championship...

what schumacher does is all a front for the cameras yesterday in qualifying he didnt really congratulate massa for the pole and like the commentators say he was gutted he couldn t get past alonso and was so frustrated and annoyed. they also said that he was not happy with his result which is true.

he did what he did in monaco because he thinks he is above anybody else and thought he could get away with it because of who he is and because he drives for ferrari

nickthaskater 08-27-2006 11:01 AM

Jesus christ, shut up kid.

nickthaskater 08-27-2006 11:09 AM

Shit, I've seen Alonso look like he was ready to cut someone's heart out a few times in the post race interviews, he's far from being a happy go lucky jolly hearted fellow when he's doing poorly. The same can be said for virtually any driver in those circumstances.

Seriously blackenzo, look at what you're writing and just think for a few moments about how retarded it sounds.

blackenzo 08-27-2006 11:15 AM

well its strange that a lot of people in formula 1 are saying what im saying and if not saying then thinking and people on english tv. just proving my point

Yay, lets let the media do our thinking for us! :D

Jealousy plays a large part whether they (drivers) admit it or not, and obviously when someone is that successful, conspiracy theories arise and so on and on and on goes the hunt for stories and dirt behind said successes.

And you didn't 'prove' shit all, you've just given examples of what any driver would do following a performance that didn't meet their expectations.

First off

Michael was gunning for pole, and messed up; has Felipe said "good work michael on getting pole" before? no, he's said "our stratagy is set up" or "blah blah blah the team" etc.

second, on Monaco...
After reviewing telemetry data from other items; i can extrapolate further on what i've said in teh Monaco topic.
when stopping from a higher speed, it will greatly affect the decceleration rate at any given lower speed.

aka: your stops from (as an example)
100 - 0 mph in 100 feet
120 - 0 mph in 130 feet,
but.... while 100-0, the distance is 110 feet during the 120 mph brake test.
and the lockup further provides evidence that the stopping distance was even longer then it should've been.

F1 cars dont work well at low speed, which even furthe is evident in that footage.

so really, anybody bringing up Monaco 2006 quali IMO just follows what they've been told.

IMO, the F1 Media, and owners have a clear bias to make the championship down to the last race to increase viewership and "excitement" and they will do anything/everything possible to do this.... particularly amid dwindling ratings for the past few years.

saadie 08-27-2006 01:51 PM

damn that stupid spin on the first corner ..... its really fucked up kimi's race  ..
anyway

sooooo alonso isnt such a bad driver afterall :P ... hehe

good race. ..this one ... kubica - webber .. trulli - barichello battles were really nice 8)

saadie 08-27-2006 06:18 PM

if he goes to ferrari ..
and alonso goes to mclaren
and alberts weber goes to redbull
and flavio brings back villy in renault ...

everyting will be just perfect .....

ZfrkS62 08-27-2006 06:53 PM

just got done watching it. (gotta love the DVR)

that safety car period was just what the doctor orderd to keep the excitment going in this race :D Way to go Massa, congrats on your first victory!

Really amazing battles midfield. Just what F1 needed to spice up the closing races.

Alonso vs Schumacher was absolutley nerve wracking. I thought Schumi had him until he washed out going through turn 8. I can only hope this excitement carries into Monza :D

jenkF1 08-28-2006 04:59 PM

:D :D Great race, great track. Went there last year and the layout is truely phenominal.

Those final Schuey Alonso laps were nail biting and a definite highlight of the season, superb.

I think now Schumi is going to have to turn it up a little bit, Renault have got over there mass damper problem and I think will push Ferrari to the end.

Can't wait for Monza!

Err...

Why do people not seem to like Schumacher? Sure, he's often too aggressive on the race track, but he's not the only one.

Quote:

So? He's still a good driver and definitely deserves to win the championship.

Quote:

How do you know he's a top man? Do you know him well? In any case, he rides on the success of the Renault development team. In an average car, he's nowhere near the top.

McLaren4eVa 09-01-2006 04:28 PM

Guys I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Turkish GP may well lose its right to host a race next or forever in fact. Basically, some leader of Turkish-Cypriot state manged to give Mass His trophy....Just read the article.

http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=37182

Great!! Finally a circuit by Tilke that I very much enjoy and has been embraced all around the world, and it's going to be banned.

I read something about Jerez in 97 doing something far less serios yet was forbidden to ever hold an F1 race.

And also when ferrari were fined $1m for swapping rubens and schumi on the last lap at austria 2002.

saadie 09-01-2006 05:13 PM

^^ yeah ... i just read that too ... isnt that like totally lame ....

he was a top leader(well thats what i think?) sooo how dose it matter :/ .....

maybe an insect crawled up max's pants :D

“The National Sporting Authority of Turkey (TOSFED) and the Organisers of the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix (MSO) have been called to appear before a specially convened meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on September 19, 2006, to hear charges that they have acted in breach of the FIA Statutes, the International Sporting Code and the 2006 Formula One Sporting Regulations,” said a statement on the FIA’s website.
Very vague from the FIA. You'd think that they had broken some sort of hard and fast rule...

Mattk 09-03-2006 03:08 AM

They recognised the Cypriot breakaway in Turkey as a state. Big deal, I say.

jenkF1 09-04-2006 07:29 AM

There is a Cypriat state in Turkey. If Turkey invaded it and drew borders and theres loads of Turks living there and NATO can't be arsed to kick there asses out then it is. Just because the Greeks don't and the UN don't doesn't mean the FIA should be this stupid about the 2nd best track in the world.

Mattk 09-05-2006 02:40 AM

OK, then. Good for them. I think the FIA are just making a mountain out of a molehill, but partial blame for this mess should be placed on the organisers as well. They should have known.

nejcdolinsek 09-05-2006 05:10 AM

Remove the Turkish GP and reinstate Imola. I'm all up for it! :D
