According to this currency converter (http://www.gcitrading.com/converter.htm), its about $3155.88 USD. I guess thats not so bad :)

edit: i have a dell inspiron. intel pentium 4 at 2.66gHz, 256megs of ram, a 40gig drive, cdrw, and a 14 inch display. Cost less than a third of that tho

if the laptop had cost that much it would have been a rip off. For that price you could get the 17 inch powerbook. But if u actually read the first post he had more then just a lap top.

also remember the exchange rate is pretty good for ppl outside of US thats why it seems very pricey. and yes the price included everything in the pic except the speakers

Man that's sweet. 1.7GHz centrino with dvdrw and 60gbs. I don't think I've ever seen that model here in Canada before, but hell I don't look at laptops, too pricey. What parts did you buy for your "semi-mega" pc?

As a VAIO SR owner, congrats on your purchase! Sony's are great style wise, although make sure you get rid of all the junk they install to get some nice performance boosts.

yes i kinda felt the extra software was bogging it down.
in the future, if i use the recovery cds, are there options not to install those extra software? all i need is the OS and drivers.

i dont remember what it was like with our Vaio(desktop), but with my dell laptop, and every dell i've ever unpacked/setup, they come with one disk for OS reinstall, one disk for drivers and diagnostics, and seperate other disks for all their bullshit addons. dell does it nicely, I think Sony did it like that too, but I really dont remember.

and beware, first thing i did when i got my laptop was wipe it out to get rid of the crapware, and more importantly destroy XP Home, and install XP Pro. i went to reinstall the drivers and found that the CD didnt come with a driver for the NIC. lovely. no nic, no connection to the internet. i used my other computer to grab the driver, and wouldnt you know it, the file is bigger than a floppy, besides i didnt get a floppy drive with it anyways. fun, huh?

read it, man. he said that he got all the stuff in Hong Kong 'cause it was cheaper. $4200 AUD for the whole shabang. He mentions that the laptop alone would have been $4500 back in Sydney(or wherever in Oz, sorry), for comparison purposes. I gave the exchange rate for the $4200 he paid for everything in HK. Considering what he got, its not that bad a price. See now?
