I don't think you will teach this to your son, but the best game I can remember of when I was kid, is one wich my friends and me used to build a military base with plastic soldiers and eventually metalic robots... when done we strike it with pellet guns...

I also played this matchbox race, the same way as you I think, this was the best...

my favorite game was playing with my legos. i my set has only 200 pcs. but i had alotof funny memories whit them. i am not sure but i think i had 25-30 mact box car and plenty of russian made car.
i never had a gun or war toy like tanks planes. my father was a soldier he didn't let me buy those. actually i am glad to not have a that kind toys.

I had Legos also, but I played with them indoors. My mother held a daycare for other kids so we had probably more than 1000 pcs of Legos. They are still there waiting for my son to get old enough to handle so small parts.
I used to collect Transformer robots also. They are also in storage and they look pretty different than Transformers of today

I had transformers too...

dude, it was my favorite toys after the pellet rifle... Good times...

i had 8 autobots and 3 decpticon but when i was 14 my mother gave my transformers to neighboors son. i was so angry to him and my mother also. i kicked boys ass after one week. revenge......

I know exactly what you've passed... My mother gave my G.I.Joes to the church when I was 13 or 14, some christmas thing, I don't know... Shit, I didn't kick the priest's ass... :x ... yet....

I played lego....and didnt spend too much time in the sand box.....i only liked to build castles and usually that was at the beach since you needed water to do it...and didnt want to get filthy in the back yard! but i have more legos than i care to count..from pirate ships (the BIG one with the red sails!) to castles to regular multi colour lego...that was my area of expertise 8)

i had alotof car toys in my life. when i was 14 i stared to collect bburago 1:43 die cast series. i guess when i was 17 i had 40 cars. one day i came home from school and i saw one neighbors boy playing whit my cars and he is simulating 1:43 scaled crash test. i was so angry because he brake my 18 cars. i screamed and i hold the boy from his shoulder and i throw him to his mother then i sad "if i saw your sons playing whit my cars again i will kill him" my mother and his friend looked to my faces and they couldn't say anything boy started to cry and her mother took him to their home and they never came again.
i lost alotof car because of my mother she always sad "you are too big to play whit cars". but she realized 3 years ago i was collecting them not playing whit them.
i had alotof good toys like transformers, gi.j.oes, matchbox , majorettes, russian made trucks and cars but because of my parents i didn't collect them to now. i got only 35 1:43 bburago now
