5th Gear - S11 EP6 - 4th June, 2007 - Discussion
Tom Ford’s challenge this week is to put the BMW M5 Touring through its paces. He has just 24 hours to deliver essential equipment to the Oracle America’s Cup sailing team in Valencia. With 1,500 miles to cover in a 200mph estate, he will have to push the machine to its limits to meet the deadline, or else he will leave the multi-millionpound yacht team high and dry.
Elsewhere, Jason Plato test drives the sexiest car of the moment, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster.
Meanwhile, Jonny Smith gets to live out his movie fantasies by taking a spin in the hire car used by James Bond in ‘Casino Royale’ – the new Ford Mondeo.
Also this week, Vicki Butler-Henderson investigates the durability of top cars by dropping them nose-first from a 100-foot crane.
And Tiff Needell discovers which car is quickest in a shootout: the Suzuki Swift Sport or the new Mini Cooper.
Last but not least, the programme catches up with racing babe Susie Stoddart, who has her hands on the DTM race car.

hmm, seems like quite a good episode, could the quality be coming back?

M5 Touring and Aston V8 Roadster ... Can be more than interesting !!
But what do they (mags and co.) have with "200 mph estate" ? As if it was a fact while :
a. it is 155 mph limited.
b. can it really do 200 mph ?
It sure sounds better and is shorter than "electronically limited to 155 mph"

I can't wait to see the M5 touring, the public torrent trackers are so slow, 1 hour passed and only 15% Does anybody know and good site tracker where they recieve good speeds always.

^ You should use Newsgroups, took me 15 minutes for the whole episode.
It was quite a nice episode, but unfortunately there was no DTM race car feature. The A1GP pitstop was nice though.

The car durability test was rubbish; it didn't seem to be in least bit technical or fair. Surely if each car was a different weight they would hit the ground at different speeds, which would affect the amount of damage caused? I think they have made cars radio controlled for crash test purposes before, so why not use that method. Either that or use a compressed gas rig.
On the plus side, I thought the V8 Vantage looked stunning, especially in yellow, and both it and the M5 Touring sounded fantastic.
