It's not that we are patriotic in Belgium. Far from it. But when it comes to beer, we beat the Americans and the French together for that matter. 8) We do not only have the best and strongest beers in the world, we also have the widest variety.

Now, for a simple night out I usually opt for Stella Artois. If it has to be a little special, I would go for Duvel or a blond Leffe. We also have a beer that has a pink elephant on the label, it's called Delirium Tremens (also highly recommended).

The problem with all this wealth is that whenever I go abroad I find that any beer tastes like water  . So then I have to switch to wine or cocktails.

jeez Beaver your not another import Aussie too?? Being an import Aussie is punnishable by death in many good old Aussie pubs. Being an Aussie is sitting down, watching the footy, and drinking a VB. What Australia are you from? Little China town?

i don't like beer as well. but if i have to drink, crown would be my choice.

my preferred alcholic drink would be just scotch whisky. i hate all those sweet drinks, its just like lemonade. but i don't mind making cocktails...just add whatever stuff i can find and let others drink it.

Funny you didn't mention the Dutch there, Draak

The Belgians are better at the darker, heavier beers. But when it comes to lager (I guess that's the English word for it) the Dutch are right up there. I usually drink Heineken, but if I want a little more bite I drink Grolsch or Brand. I'm not a very chauvinistic person, it's just that they only sell Dutch beer at most shops and supermarkets here.

I like Palm and Das as well. I think they're both Belgian beers, of Palm at least I'm certain.
