For the last 3 days everyone has had to struggle with the multimedia gallery and the forum not syncing their logins. Its quite a PITA don't ya think.

Well Jabba has asked me to move this forum to the same server that holds the gallery. I intend to set aside friday evening (Eastern US timezone) to do this transition. The entire move should go relatively quickly but we will need to close down the forum for a brief period when I transfer the database from one host to another.

I anticipate the transition to be a very smooth one that will make everyone happy in the end.

When you come back you might have to use .net on the end of the domain. For folks that forget ill put a blind redirect on the current server to send ya to the correct location.

Yeh.. I have to admit I'm not really that happy

as Jabba already knows, I have major problems with those serers (I also had a site with the same host).. no problems in download, but VERY slow upload (100 bytes/sec or less).. I think a message board needs to send some info so I guess my surfing on the forum will become way slower, but well, no big deal

yep or I hope there will be an automatic re-direct so that you will still get there even if you use www.jabbasworld.com....

If you forget and still go to jabbasworld.com you will (thru the magic of the internet) be transported to jabbasworld.net. Of course you should eventually update your bookmark because if/when jabba cancels the .com account he magic will ceese to function.

The site wont be down for a day I promise. In fact it will probabaly only be down for like 15-20min. (depending on how long it takes to download and upload the database to the new server.

Look for the transition to occur between 7PM and 9PM Eastern US time. For those of you in other time zones that would be GMT -5 so if your in GMT 0 then it would be around 12am-1am that the move occurs. For those of you on the west cost of the US that would be GMT -8 so it would happen for you around 4-5pm.

Ok. This is the offical notice. The database will need to be transfered so in approx 10min I am going to disable the site to make the database transfer.

Well everything took a bit longer than I had anticipated because of some issues extracting the database from the old server and uploading the database to the new server.

For anyone interested in the details I had to basicly chop up the database into several smaller chunks and sometimes the chunks where still to large.

Everything should be working properly at this point. Any links in any of the messages that point physicaly to jabbasworld.com/ will NOT work and aside form doing some major changes to the information in the database to edit those links there is no fix for those.

From here on out use the www.jabbasworld.net address. As you might have seen if you use the www.jabbasworld.com address you will get an auto redirect to this new location.

There was an issue with sending out message notifications but I belive that has been resolved now.
