Default Coke or Coffee? BOTH!

Coke to launch coffee-infused Coke Blak

Dec 7, 2005 — NEW YORK (Reuters) - Coca-Cola Co. <KO.N>, the world's No. 1 soft drink company, on Wednesday said it will launch a coffee-infused soft drink called Coca-Cola Blak in various markets around the world in 2006.

The news of the launch came hours before Coke Chief Executive Neville Isdell was scheduled to address financial analysts and investors in New York.

The new drink, a combination of Coca-Cola Classic and coffee extracts, will be first launched in France in January before being rolled out in the United States and other markets during 2006.

A Coke spokesperson said Coca-Cola Blak will be a mid-calorie drink, similar to Coca-Cola C2, which was launched in April 2004 and contains half the sugar, calories and carbohydrates of regular colas. The formula for the new beverage is expected to vary based on local tastes.

Analysts have said one of the keys to the company's future is capturing more consumers who have moved away from sugary soft drinks to diet versions, or to healthier low- or no-calorie beverages.

Unfortunately, I have a bit of a coffee habbit. Not vast amounts, but if I don't get my fix, I get the worst pains in me head!

Further, coffee is a culture. Whether you goto a major coffe chain, or find a little back place. It is all about having a break from work and having a chat. There is no way that I will go out for a coke coffee.

I think they have missed the mark with this. I can understand why they might release lemon ones e.t.c but coffee is just not going to work IMO

Same here, I often get the same feeling as a cold almost, reallly hazy and then headache. As for this ,have to agree, i think it will taste horrible and it lacks the social element. Even in our flat having a cup of tea or coffee is time to chat, take a break from working, sometimes for hours!

EXACTLY. It has been built into (I can only speak for the majority of the Brits) our way of life. Having a cup of tea or coffee is down time. Talking 'shop' is completely out of the question.

i dont know how ive done it... i think the reasons are plain as day.

i used to wake up in the middle of the night because i needed some pop, just to go back to sleep. i wouldn't doubt i was right on my way to some adult diabetes or something. oh, and sugar+cafeen gives really wierd dreams

i had the worst headache for a week... it was hard to sleep, hard to wake up, and as Service Coordinator, i was one hell of a bastard to my former minions at work... but now... i havent had a headache since... no cold, easy to wake up, easy to goto bed. still really hard to drive when you are super tired. every time i at the store, see some in the cooler, or its offered somewhere... i cant tell you how hard it is not to buy it especially mt. dew.... god its sooooo good ops:
