He is using about the same engine as in the c6 z06 corvette.
This thing will fly above the desert.
And the torque will be amazing
If the car the car will have no serious problems and he makes not crash or lose to much time and than i think we wil see him in the top 10 or better i hope he beats mitsubishi en vw.

I think she is a bit overrated her last victory whit mitsubishi was pure luck.
Because if they kicked jean louis schlesser out of rally and that was her good luck.
Whoops i voted for the wrong option in my own poll

The dakar is hardcore ok.
But i want to talk about jutta is she is overrated yes or no?
I agree whit your there but i don't trust the bwm x5 her car for the dakar rally that is fast car but it's had it's fair share problems in the rally.
And she has cheated whit a engine swap before.

Good news for dutch dakar fans.
The rally truck of hans bekx has passed the tech inspection

And also the rallytrucks of jan de rooy and gerard de rooy and the other truck passed the tech inspection.
A parade of motor force is waiting patiently since yesterday for its turn to go through all handlings that the Organisation has in store. Man and machine will be checked administratively and technically. The last bureaucratic handlings before the start of world’s biggest rally.

The Team De Rooy left this morning early at eight o’clock to wash the vehicles, after which they left on their way to scrutineering. The first turn was for Gerard de Rooy, but as the Organisation did their job in the well known slapdash manner, everything was delayed.

After arrival it turned out how popular the Team De Rooy is. As well Jan as Gerard had to pose extensively for the international press camera’s while Gerard also had to give a number of interviews.

First of all, the entire Team, so also the crews of the assistance vehicles had to go through the administrative checks. At 5.00 p.m. – the Team was already for 4 hours at the closed park where scrutineering takes place – Gerard drove his truck in, being the first one of the Team. A bit nervous, which is understandable after last year’s tragedy. Father Jan was rest itself and laughed after the administrative checks: “that exactly as far as we got last year”.
Gerard passed the technical scrutineering within half an hour. It’s pretty obvious that young De Rooy and his crew heaved a deep sigh. “Now the rally can start”, said a happy Gerard de Rooy. “Before there were still rumours that our shock absorbers weren’t correct. Although you know that these rumours are nonsense, you still keep it at the back of your mind”.

At 6.15 p.m. also Jan and Hugo passed the scrutineering. “No problem at all. The scrutineering was a piece of cake”, tells a smiling Jan de Rooy a bit later at the Parc Fermé where the trucks have to stay until the start of the first Special in Portugal.

Until than the Team De Rooy can take some rest en that will suit some of them as they didn’t sleep much during the last few nights, still having last year’s disillusion in mind.
Of course Tom Colsoul made it a laughing matter: “Maybe Jan allows us to drink just one beer tonight”.

+ new video of robby gordon

Some tech of robby gordon's monster hummer.
CHASSIS & SUSPENSION

Material: 4130 steel alloy space frame construction
Wheelbase: 120 inches
Track: 88 inches front and rear
Overall Length: 174 inches
Overall height: 65 inches
Weight: 4,500 pounds

Front Suspension: Double “A” arms with coil-over springs and specially calibrated, four position-sensitive by-pass shocks by King. Total vertical wheel travel 20 inches.

Rear Suspension: Semi-trailing lower arm with integral hubs, 934 series CV joints and stub axles by Kartek Manufacturing. King coil-over four-position shocks and springs. Total vertical wheel travel 20 inches.

Brakes: Four wheel disc ProAm brakes by Kartek Manufacturing. A special hand-operated “splitter” brake in the cockpit enables the driver to make tighter and faster turns by isolating the right and left rear brake systems

Steering: Robby Gordon Motorsports power-assisted rack and pinion. One turn lock to lock (37 degrees)

Fuel System: Twin fuel tanks, with Fuel-Safe fuel-cells carry 100 gallons of Regular Grade ASO mandated pump gas. Mileage varies according to conditions, but under the worst-case scenario the Hummer H3 can cover 500 miles without refueling

Jacking System: Twin Howe integral chassis mounted hydraulic rams can lift either side of the car to facilitate a change of tires or extracting from sand and/or mud

TIRES & WHEELS

Tires: Toyo Open Country M/T 37 x 14.50R15 (two spares are carried on board)

Wheels: Robby Gordon 15 x 6.5 alloy racing wheels with integral bead locks.

NAVIGATION

Navigation Aids: Twin Terra-Trip odometers with KVH digital compass, twin GPS, with ASO supplied Iritrac team navigation/locator units. Note: ASO GPS units are purposely limited in accuracy by the organizers to place a premium on the team’s navigation skills. By ASO regulation no communication systems of any type are allowed. The Iritrac system will allow viewers to follow the progress of the race in real time on the team’s website, Robby Gordon.com The Hummer is also equipped with an ASO required Belize satellite tracking emergency, homing beacon which, if activated, immediately disqualifies the entry.

BODY & INTERIOR

Body: Carbon fiber replica of the Hummer H3 made by Menards Engineering Limited in Oxfordshire, England. The two-place cockpit for driver and navigator is completely sealed, filtered by UNI and cooled by an engine driven-air conditioning system.
Seating: Twin Custom built MasterCraft buckets with Simpson five point harnesses. Driver and navigator also wear custom made Simpson fire suits
Electrical and Lighting Systems: Twin Pro-Comp batteries power a Milspec type, custom wired RayChem harness designed and fabricated by James Lin. Lighting by three Hella HIDs units on roof and two high beam/low beam Hella HID units on the front bumper with 55 watt street legal lamps.
Custom fabricated RGM/RacePak digital instrument panel allows monitoring of all vital systems.

ENGINE

Rear mounted, GM designed, fuel injected, normally aspirated, with alloy block and heads, 6.0 liter LS2 series V8, built by Russ Oblenes at GM Racing and specially tuned and mapped for desert racing by Scott Urshell of UMI in Phoenix Arizona.

The engine build specifications, with the exception of compression ratio and its wet sump, are almost identical to those used by GM Racing’s factory Corvettes to win the GT1 Class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, France, on three different occasions.
ASO regulations limit power by use of a sealed induction system using a 37mm inlet anulus. A four-gallon plenum feeds double filtered air to the engine. Bassani Headers with a single Magnaflow muffler keeps the engine within FIA mandated noise limits.
Cooling: Seven-gallon re-circulating through a Ron Davis radiator with two integral heat exchangers for engine and transmission coolant. Ten gallons of emergency coolant/drinking water are carried on board in two five-gallon containers.
The Hummer also uses UMI Racing Technology Mefi 4 engine management system and software along with UMI dash and data logger system
Motor dyno tuned by Todd Peterson and Scott Urshell
TRANSMISSION

5-Speed sequential Albins/Weddel manual shift transaxle. Power is fed through a multi-plate Tilton Engineering clutch assembly.
