360CS - 425Bhp & 1180 kg
Gallardo SE - 520Bhp & 1430Kg

250Kg difference in weight and 95Bhp!!! I think the horse power way more than makes up for it and gives the SE a huge advantage.

On a side note:
These videos appear on the net all the time (fiat panda pwns LP640!, etc.), whilst this one might be completely trustworthy (and I would predict this outcome as the SE is more powerful and newer), you've just no idea how good a driver the guys are usually, whether the cars are both in similar condition and all sorts of other variables. Long term tests over many individual cars and locations adds up to more trustworthyness. Tbh YouTube amateur videos are given far too much weight usually.

I disagree. The youtube videos show real world results, not magazine tests which are corrected for OPTIMUM conditions. And as yet again, I will say it again, the 360CS is an F1, there is not much to do, but hold on, and pull the paddle back.

You also fail to acknowldege, that the 360CS is 425 hp stock. This car is NOT stock, it has exhaust, headers, high flo cats, and intake. And yo do realise, that even if he had another 100hp, I still wouldnt worry.

Well, don't know if this is the case, but there are many cars yhere where the people just put several "add-ons", without worrying how they will interact with each other, and end up by gaining 10hp in the high range, but loosing 30hp in the low range, so, making the car slower on the drag strip!

Couldn't this be the case?

Not bad. On paper, the CS is supposedly faster, but seems like the Gallardo won this time. How were the tires on the CS?

The car is perfect, the tires are perfect. Those cars are dead slow. In New York, my friend has 04 Gallardo Egear, and has raced several different 360Cs, with the same result. In my Gallardo I could skip a gear and still beat him, thats how slow it is.

You convinced me for sure

Please promise me you'll race against a 430CS soon

I don't know about them being "dead slow", because 0-60 times of 4 seconds or less, is pretty nice.

But I do know that a few weeks back when I drove a standard Gallardo versus a friends 360 (normal, manual), I was able to creep up to him and slowly catch him up. It wouldn't surprice me too much if you get the right launch.

Was he using launch control? It's supposed to help quite a bit, but wouldn't it be a bit dangerous to use on a drag strip as it require pretty good timing from the moment the lights go green.

p.s. however, at the speeds these two cars can reach, a missed gear is enough to seriously dampen your speeds...

yeah bullshit.

I've been in a Gallardo/CS racing side by side (last year in Alice Springs) and the result was close, no way in hell would the Gallardo win when missing a gear.

420hp/1280kg (CS) vs 500hp/about 1400kg (04 Gallardo)....its very close and not as big a difference as you claim.

Please explain.....

with the perfect launch a modified 360 CS would MAYBE run low 13? lol What are u talking about man the CS is rated at 12.6 s at 114 mph. Upon doing a very very quick search i already found some 12.2's and a 12.1 at 117 mph. That guy is either not pushing hard, he cant drive, or theres some kind of problem with the car. For you to say optimum conditions a low 13, thats a joke. Yes maybe the altitude robs power but it doesnt rob a full seconds worth in the small amount of a time in a quarter mile, absolutely no way.

The 360CS is dead slow. A Gallardo will ruin it. The owner of the car switched drivers even, and the guy who ran a 12.40 in his Gt3 couldnt do any better in the 360CS. You cant miss gears in the 360cs, it is an F1.

As for the Gallardo, it also depends on what Gallardo you were in. An 06+ is substantially faster than an 04/05. We did alot of research with my car, and to give you an idea, bone stock my SE dynoed 437rwhp, while the closest 04 dynoed 414rwhp. This 04 was also not stock, it had full exhaust and air filters. In reality, even though Lamborghini claims only a 20 hp increase for the 06+, they make closer to 50Hp at the crank over an 04-05. Meanwhile, most 360CS in reality make approx 320rwhp. There was a large debate about the CS as owners who dynoed their cars found out that they made no more power than a reg 360 and that Ferrari also UNDERSTATED the weight falsely. One guy actually sued Ferrari.

But again, you guys are know it alls, and your magazines are gospel.

That's harsh, it's only healthy discussion! And he wasn't quoting a magazine.

P.S. Excuse me if this is a stupid question but I cannot see why it would be only 320 RWHP for the CS, it is rear wheel drive so surely all the HP is through the rear wheels? 320 is a lot of difference from the 425Bhp figure!

and what about those 330 RWHP 12.2 C5 Z06 times out there, a-plenty No magazines, just GPS verified from individual owners

also, a modern "modded" car will go little faster w/out the proper engine tune, I don't care what the price of upgrading is, a proper dyno tune of each individual car being tuned would be nessisary.... it may be possible that this CS is even running less then it ought to.

In any case, a 360 CS isn't the drag king, it is a more ideal track car...

Gallardo's aren't so bad, but for some reason, i prefer an old school approach with the cars from the original round of hyper exotics in the early 90's... the Vector W8, the Jag XJ220, and the F40... while Diablo came of age under Audi supervision.

in reference to fsandy's post...
a mid engine car with RWD should dyno with less drivetrain loss then a front engine RWD car... a C5Z06 (2001) will dyno @ 330 RWHP and 385 SAE HP... so 320 is enormously low... but bear in mind, if Allen is talking about higher elevation, and perhaps hot weather dyno runs; which will edge off a factory dyno run, or dyno run at 760 mm of Hg, and 65 F

off topic... i recall seeing you on some tv show in a Lambo event... and you made some factless claim for the camera.... "every car here costs more then $300,000.00!" were you trying to retain more value for your SV at the time? LOL
