Yeah Apple Online Store is offering some great deals on refurbs. You get the same 1 year warranty and it still qualifies for AppleCare as well.

I think 15" MacBook Pro Core Duo 2.0GHz is down to about $1300 or so. Last time I checked.

If you go to the Apple Store Online, and on the lower right hand side, you will see a Red Tag "Looking For A Great Deal".

Simple.. PC is PS3 and Mac is XBox360... one is over hyped, under powered and offers no useful tools or supported upgrade path

The other simply works as intended from day 1.

@RC45

Well u can also look at it the other way...

PS3 - overpriced, not much better in terms of graphical power (at least as of the current games) [Mac]

XBox 360 - more affordable and more software. [PC]

Depends which period did you used PC for 5 years. Plus, you might say the opposite if you used PC for 20 years then switch to Mac. It's about the getting used to factor too u know.

Your girl might be following the trend rather than it's function. Commercial sells, peer pressure sells, packaging sells ....

Except I can upgrade my PC... and my PS3... yet buying a Mac or XBox360 seems to have locked me into a deadend

But not to worry, M$ will have an "improved" XBox360 on sale in a little while.. much the same way you "buy" your way to the next level with a Mac
