Default I've owned a few~

I've had several SHO's.. I think they are great cars that many people overlook.

I've had a 5 speed titanium 1989
a 5 speed black on black 1990
a 5 speed emerald green 93
and a very rare opal frost 5 speed 1994

Never had a V8 version..I'm too hooked on standard transmissions

the taurus does come in a V-8. we have several of them driving around the ares i live. i know that they made them in 98. but as said above, it wasnt a great car. i test drove a '94 that had a supercharged 3.8 i believe (may be wrong on engine size) with a 5 speed and it really ripped up the asphalt, but the FWD is a disapointment...
i loved those chrome duals comin' out the back end, though. made you look twice at that taurus next to you!

You're a bit off there. With the redesign in 1996, the larger, ellipsoid body style was introduced and the engine in the SHO became a 3.4L V8, also by Yamaha. The original engine in the late eighties through 1994 was a V6 with about 225bhp, though they were NOT supercharged as Hardcore suggested. The earlier V6 versions were far lighter and better handlers than the V8...though in a straight line, the V8 would probably show them a bit of the taillights due to superior torque from the V8, even though it only produced 235bhp.

alright, guys. i was wrong. thanks to vansquish i checked my facts.
an s/c taurus would be nice though....think af all the people you could shock with the "family" ride that just whomped your 'stang!! anyone know of someone who's done that? a SHO fan site shows a taurus wagon someone had made into a SHO. theres a whole lot of sleeper potential in that, even though it is still a taurus wagon!! hehe
The one i drove was very nice. interior and exterior are both a step up from the run-of-the-mill, generic taurus' running around, plus i believe the insurance titles are the same as a reg. taurus which is nice

I saw one at the track once, it's transmission was making a terrible noice though. My folks had a Taurus GL that I inherited and ultimately sold off because of a bad tranny. I'm not sure the 5-speed had the same rep for bad transmissions, but that one I saw at the track didn't sound healthy. I wouldn't mind flogging one around for kicks though.

Had a red 91. Kept it for 4 years and put 130K miles on it. Great car to drive, the Yamaha V6 is one of the sweetest motors. Unfortunately it suffers from being a Ford. Started to cost too much to keep it. Never drove the V8, but seems like it sort of defeats the purpose of the SHO anyway. No manual transmission and not a Yamaha motor.
