MotorolaQ-possible to ck for new mail faster than every 15?

I have a Verizon account and didn't want to get blackberry because the models available for Verizon are a generation behind, so I bought a Motorola Q. Unfortunately I can only get it to check for new email once every 15 minutes. The person that helped me at Verizon said there is no way around that. Does anybody know if that is correct?

You can maybe use another soft like emoze : http://www.emoze.com/en/download/Default.aspx I don't know if it change the rate of check ...
