Nani Roma had an accident in the last stage, between the first and second checkpoints, They crashed into a reinforced concrete wall. This accident broke Henry Magne's neck, he died instantly.
Henry magne born in 1953, his first participation in the Dakar was in 1982, he finished 21, but won in the diesel category. In 1985 he was copilot in a Mitsubishi Assistance Truck, they finished 9 in truck category.
In 1988 he was copilot of Kenjiro Shinozuka, they finished the Dakar in second place.
In 1997 he won his first Dakar with Kenjiro Shinozuka and Mitsubishi, and repeated the deed in Paris-Dakar-ElCairo 2000 with Jean-Louis Schlesser.
With Carlos Sousa he finished 4 in 2003 and same position with Luc Alphand in 2004. With Sousa he winned FIA world Championship in 2003, and the European Cup in 2004.
He joined Mitsubishi with Nani Roma in Qatar Rally 2004, they finished seconds ( first year of Nani in 4x4 ), in Dakar 2005, Nani Roma's first participation in this rally, they finished 6. In Dakar 2006 they finished in 3 position, Podium! This year they got 2 position in Patagonia-Atacama Rally and another second place in Transiberic Rally.
