Default New Civic Type R

It appears that the new Civic Type R is going to follow the lines of the outlandishly styled yellow concept car from earlier this year. Though the speculation appears to be that it'll run the same 2.0L engine as the Civic Si...putting out 197bhp. In any case, that's a fair amount, but not the rumoured 220bhp-240bhp engine.

So are we to believe this car will one up the Honda Pussy and do the lane-change test quicker than Le Man Prototype?

The civic SI here in the states already makes 200hp...if there isnt an increase in model from the SI to R model then it is weak

Honda have given the american market equal BHP to the UK market, neither is weak. Maybe you would like 240bhp like the VXR astra? But look at most tests, lets take 5thgear for example, the type R had over a second on it. I strongly believe that with FF cars, balance will overcome power once you get to the 200bhp area.

The car looks great, i would love the see the yellow one as they showed it in the Genvea...And i think the Black one with black whells would looks damn swett.

The 200Hp is enough for the hot hatch but the could give it a bit more power becouse the last type r had 200hp.

Old civic type R is very good car. I don't like new ones design. And if they use old 2.0 liter 200 hp engine it would be bad because with every new generation cas has more powerfull engines. Maybe they will use 2.2 240hp engine.

Also remeber this new TypeR is lighter than the old one, so the same 197bhp engine will perform better. So in theory is should handle better, and at the end of the day should be better than the old typeR.

So the 0-100 time should be a bit better, the old one had 7.3 or 7.2s....How much its lighter?

Daggernite: I know its going to be lighter but I just think there should be a power increase...yes its going to be quick, yes its gonna be well balanced, but its just stupid to have the same hp for both of your high end models.

Take the M3 and M3 CSL, the CSL is lighter and more powerful. Honed for the track, like the Type R of old. Now it just looks like they are just making a completely different car and calling it a Civic Type R. This is not to say I am complaining about the design change, just that I dont think the R has the same spirit of old. 20 more hp would cure that
