It was an amazing day. A 917 has an awesome sound. Not at all like a normal 6cylinder boxer. The Ferrari was also very distinctive.
As far as I remember the 917s didn't have Flat-6s they were Flat-12s and then Turbo Flat-12s.
Yes. What I meant was that the flat 12 is a boxer engine, but doesn't have a similar sound to that distinctive beat of the normal Porsche Flat-6

Alright now i got you. As you say a normal flat-6 would be the road going cars as pretty much all flat-6 cars raced in the big shows were turbo and for sure would sound a lot different than the early flat-12's NA.

Remember when talking around Germans to pre-analyse and evaluate your words for all possible ambiguity and concise accuracy - to the letter, before you post em.. Because they sure will hehe

Hahaha. Too true! 8)
But understandable, I do the same query thing often enough myself to make sure I understand correctly. Basic communication skill. I just forget to explain myself sometimes when I'm in a rush.

Update!
The Cape Town event has come and gone and I found a guy that took a good range of shots. He photographed a much wider range than I did...

RC45 if you wanted more views of the Gulf-coloured 956, it's here.

Seems the CT event had bettter weather!

Shots of the Cape Town event.
