Default Top Gear - S12 EP4 - 23rd November, 2008 - Discussion

This week's challenge is to drive from Switzerland, to the north west coast of England. This must be done on just one tank of petrol - no splashing and dashing in France, just one tank. The first to arrive - if any do - gets the honour of switching on Blackpool's illuminations.

Thanks for the link pitfield, the Veyron doesn't sound like a car at all......more like a spaceship

I was laughing quite a bit, I couldnt believe Jeremy said that on tv

"can anyone tell me of anything that is better hard than soft?"

the silence was gold after it

ah a really good episode after a really weak one

i thought it was awesome that they came to Basel *yay*

the Zonda has an outlandish soundtrack but the outcome of the comparison was predictable imo. the topgear track has just got too many twists and turns for the veyron to make a difference with its godlike acceleration.

I thought this was a great ep actually, with two of my favourite car's featured.
The "race" was good for a change, and they made it comedic.

Did you see the nasty dent on the Veyron's right rocker panel? Poor car.

Best ep of the series so far! The Veyron´s time was pretty much as expected, but it still corners astonishingly well for its weight!

I was savoring this for a while, to see TG finally put the ultimate footballer's wife show car in its place. This Muscle Beetle has received way too much undeserved 'ZOMG, almost as much power as in a tuned Skyline!!11!1!!' praise before, while bluntly refusing to be put to a test, but they couldn't forestall it any longer.

I never doubted it would be like this - if VW Veyron was really as good as it was bling, they'd give one to Top Gear at the first notice. It was obvious to me. But we had to see it for it to become obvious to everyone. Not only enormous horsepower, but even 4WD won't make a muscle car beat proper sports cars. Extra points, however, for being beaten by a convertible.

Volkswagen, make wagons for the folks, that's what we need you for, not showoff never-to-be-raced toys for the rich, built with the money taken from the Lupo and Fox buyers.
