Default Planning a trip from London to Rome and back

I have spring break in 3 weeks and i'm trying to get together a trip from London to Rome...actually just outside in Urbino where my sister is currently going to school. Anyway i was think about the Chunnel to Paris then renting a car and driving down maybe stopping in Monaco or Monte Carlo. Any suggestions on route, places to go/stay ect. Obviously a trip the ferrari factory is in order as well.

PS would and Alfa 147 be good for the drive? i know it's front wheel drive but i'm looking for something fun on the drive also.

I did a Lausanne to Manchester last summer. It was quite fun really, although I spent over half the trip on the French highways just to the east of Paris (went past Dijon) to speed things up. Took me about 8 hours to go from Lausanne to Calais, with a good 2-3 hours spent on a short portion just to the north of Switzerland with mountains resulting in a lot of zig zagging and driving at a maximum of 50mph for over 100miles, but this place was quite stunning to look at.

Going a bit to the left and coming in through the Geneva area (or even more to the west) can speed up thinkg I would think.

As for renting, thats going to be some serious m ileage tto negotiate with the company, so i'm not sure how do-able this trip is :bah:

Good luck, and remember your camera to show the trip etc... :good:

Well i do have a new camera after my old one was stolen off the train...

the millage shouldn't be a problem as the major renters give unlimited millage. Also i saw a BMW 120d...i think that is what i am going to take...only 290 for the week!

£ or euros - wither way, its pretty cheap.

The 120d will be infinitley better to drive than the 147. It has a proper Bee-Em sorted RWD chassis. Much more fun.

Not to mention the advantages of diesel economy over such a long trip
