"The supplier that provides Carbon Fiber Body Skin Frame pieces for the Lamborghini LP 640, Porsche GT and the Ferrari 599 has stoped production and filed BANKRUPTCY last week.

This will cause the production of the above listed cars to be reduced.

Lamborghini uses the company for approx 70% of its product requirment. There is no issue with its remaining suppliers.

As a result it is estimated this will cause the production to drop to a total of ONLY 104 LP 640 coupes for the USA MY 2007.

I did not get an answer when asked, what reduction or delay this will cause for the newly released LP 640 Roadster at this time."

From Autoblog:
Lamborghini's plans for the future

Some would call it cheapening the brand, others would call it advertising, others still would note that it's a revenue stream. What are we talking about? We're talking about the coming preponderance of Lamborghini-branded trinkums. Okay, we're not really sure how much exactly there will be, but Lamborghini is slowing down its vehicular business a little for 2007 and picking up its activity in the knick-knack sector. The reasoning for the growth shrinkage is to improve the efficiency of the organization, as well as popularize the brand through the aforementioned things other than cars. Hey, there are Ferarri branded laptops, and F.A. Porsche has designed all sorts of stuff, so why not? We'd love to see what Lamborghini could do to the simple commode, forinstance. In all seriousness, the brand is coming off a sales growth spurt of over 25 percent between '05 and '06. They're playing Ben Bernanke so that they can maximize profits and take a breath as they prepare for future growth.

Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann played it close to the vest when talking to Winding Road about upcoming developments from Sant A'gata. There will be new Lambos coming soon, though. Keep an eye out for a V10 powered, Porsche Cayenne based SUV sometime in 2009. Following on the heels of what will be one of the world's most expensive and high performance SUVs will be a 2+2 inspired by the Espada. The Espada was a four-place GT that looked like the result of a tryst between a 400GT and a Plymouth Belvedere. We think a real car that you could use would be a great addition to the stable of Trattori. The Gallardo and Murcielago are all well and good, but you're not going to get dressed up in your finery and try to wriggle in and out of those things in front of your favorite restaurant's plate glass window. An SUV and GT make perfect sense -- they'll broaden the appeal of the Lamborghini brand and offer exclusive-car buyers something a little more mainstream while still offering outstanding performance. Perhaps they won't be quite as capable as the big-dogs, but they'll certainly help pull the financial sled.

--so the GT will actually go into production then? cool 8) still against the SUV though...

Another record year for Automobili Lamborghini.
2087 supercars built and sold in 2006
Sales up over 30%
The Detroit Motor Show is the right venue to announce Automobili Lamborghini's official figures for 2006 : another annual sales record.

In the last twelve months the House of Sant'Agata Bolognese has built and sold 2087 cars, which represents a growth of 30.4% compared to the year before (1600 cars). This is the highest total ever achieved in Lamborghini's history.

A total of 876 units were sold in the United States, which remains the main market for Automobili Lamborghini. Sales grew by 37% compared to the year before (640 cars).

In Europe, sales rose to 746 units, a growth of 50%. Particularly strong sales were recorded in Germany with 234 units, an increase of 41% and Great Britain with a tremendous improvement of 81% and 151 cars delivered.

In the home market of Italy, 134 units were sold, a growth of 38%, which was another strong performance.

"2006 was an exceptional year. This success was due to the Lamborghini dealer network and our products", said Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

The worldwide dealer network has been strengthened, passing from 65 dealers in 2005 to 100 dealers by end of 2006.

The Lamborghini product line was expanded with more new models introduced in 2006 than in any other year of the company's history.

The Gallardo Spyder was launched on the markets in early 2006, while the extreme Murciélago LP640 Coupé was introduced in summer 2006. The new Murciélago LP640 Roadster was presented in November 2006 and will be launched in early spring 2007.

Automobili Lamborghini starts the year with production record of five thousandth Gallardo

Automobili Lamborghini has already achieved a new production record in the first month of 2007: Lamborghini Gallardo number 5000 has rolled off the production line at the house of Sant’ Agata Bolognese. This remarkable achievement builds on the previous production record realised at the end of December 2006, with the delivery of 2087 vehicles during one year.

« This is another important milestone for Lamborghini, » said President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. To have produced 5000 Gallardo is testament to the quality of, and customer demand for, our V10 product. ....

« The Lamborghini brand is increasingly sought after in markets worldwide through our substantially grown dealer network, through which supply versus demand is carefully managed, » concluded Winkelmann.

The five thousandth black Gallardo coupé, due for delivery to a customer in the UK, was celebrated by assembly line workers along with the president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann; Klaus-Peter Koerner, Production Director; and Ingo Budde, Quality Director.

The Gallardo continues to affirm its success. Introduced to the market in 2003, it marked its first record in November 2005 with production of 3000 units, already representing the most sold model in Lamborghini’s history.

The ten cylinder Gallardo coupe produces 520 hp (382 kW), with a top speed of 315 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.
