It is certainly unfortunate that Fedor went elsewhere, but he's always wanted to have options to fight in Russia since he's very proud of his nationality. The UFC only does exclusive deals, so that was most likely the sticking point since Pride basically let Fedor do whatever he wanted.
I guess in a few days it will be announced who's backing the newly bought-out M-1, but odds are they'll be able to afford other top talent if they're tossing $10 million to Fedor. There's still a match with Josh Barnett out there, though he's rumored to be talking with EliteXC.
At the end of the day, though, so long as we see some exciting, compelling fights in both organizations, we'll win as fans.
